I'd almost go with pullets. We have a couple with similar shading (different colors) that are pullets (my Adventures in Easter Eggers thread)
We still have a grey one we are wishy washy on lol guess we'll know in a few weeks if it grows or not lol
Have you tried searching FB or Google maybe for a local "pet sitter" or "livestock sitter" there could be all sorts of varieties. My cousin pet sits: dogs, cats, reptiles, horses, chickens, pigs, lol worth a shot! Good luck
Some work, some don't. Obvious signs to watch: chasing, excessive pecking.
I've only had one group not mix very well- with olders or youngers (they were our middle trio, and we tried to put them with two other groups but they isolated themselves)
I totally get that. Our first broody and hatch, there was a slightly cracked one, viable and I was trying to wax it to see if it'd make it...and I crushed it, I wasn't even holding it tight or roughly, just a bit softer egg. I felt so bad but I know I learned from it. Candling does get easier...
No study here but about a month or two ago we started putting one egg each in our dogs foods, one who has major allergies, had to have medicine. Well, when we ran out I noticed he doesn't have the itchies or the stinkies. Thats all that has changed for the poor guy and I call it a win.
Also my...
Survivor is now Doofenshmirtz lol
9 weeks old tomorrow
we have determined his sire is still Blue Wheaten Ameraucana as that's the only roo she has, but his mom is her Alsteirer mix hen due to his crest and neck pattern.
Not sure on lucky. We got 6 eggs from a local lady with a pure blue wheaten Ameraucana so they are EE, five hatched (6 wasn't fertilized) I have a thread about them and their colors!
We have two white EE (blue wheaten Ameraucana x white leghorn) they have a few grey feathers coming through.
Mister and Missy, almost ten weeks(Fri May 24)
I have a thread where I followed our broody journey. She'd get off the nest first thing or a couple hours into the day, but we never saw her but a handful of times. There were a few times she got off for over four hours and went back. Her eggs were good to go because another girl was laying in...
Our broody was always on a different nest as we didn't separate her so when she got off to eat another hen would hope up and add more. I've read a hen can be off for 8 or more hours give or take and eggs will still hatch. I'd just gently move our Mama back to the correct nest and she'd be fine...
