Our flock of fifteen sleeps in a big fluffy pile in the pine shavings despite having lovely custom-made roosts that they use during the day.
I don't know why they prefer the pine shavings. It's not cold here, nighttime temps are in the 70s and 80s.
They're 8-10 weeks old and they've grown up...
In the early 1900s one of my relatives made it her life's work to track everything down and publish it in a book. She made it all the way back to the 16th century. The book is 500+ pages. And she did all that before DNA tests and before computers!
