I can’t say for sure, but I don’t think it looks too bad. I would let it rest, and see if it keeps getting stronger. In a few hours you can try the sugar water but don’t force it.
I had one very weak duckling last batch - it hatched around 5 PM, I left it in the incubator until 6 AM the next...
What water did it wet itself with in the incubator?
It’s good that it is getting more active. Hopefully as it gets stronger it’s neck will improve so don’t worry about that too much for now.
If after 24 hours it is still having trouble with its neck, give it the vitamin E
It’s a mix of multiple breeds: probably khaki Campbell, Cayuga, silver Appleyard, and I suspect Buff. My blue drake looks like a Swedish but I think he might have just turned out that way
Personally, I like the nutridrench but if you can only find one available get whichever one you can find. It’s sometimes available at tractor supply, otherwise you can get it on Amazon.
There are a couple ways to give nutridrench.
1. You can put a little in a dish and the duckling may drink it...
I just add a big pinch of sugar to about a quarter cup of water. Then I hold up the dish of water just to the edge of the duckling’s bill (beak). This often stimulates them to drink when they feel the water touch their bill. If it doesn’t drink, don’t force it but try again in a little while...
What color do you think this duckling is? I’m guessing blue, or maybe a lighter diluted form of blue? Maybe lilac? I do have a blue drake, but I thought he was a darker grey than this when he hatched. I promise I’ll post pictures of her/him when they grow up so we can have the final answer to...
If the brooder is warm and it won’t get trampled by it’s siblings, you can move it now. Is it still not walking? If it isn’t walking, it might be better to leave it in the incubator. But you could briefly take it out, offer it a drink of sugar water or electrolyte, and then return to the incubator
Hi, it is normal for them to rest, but usually they are more active than that at this point. Hopefully it will perk up over the next couple hours.
Do you have nutridrench or poultry cell? Those are good for weak babies
I agree that starting an assist on the side air cell baby soon would probably be a good idea. If you open the aircell just a bit, and then keep the membrane moist, it’s pretty safe
