Thanks for the reply. I used liquid Ivermectin on the chickens. 3 drops for small or bantam, 4 to 5 drops for the larger hens and about 6 to7 for the rooster. I took out all the bedding, washed the coop interior and exterior, sprinkled permethium powder lightly and replaced bedding with new...
Thank you, I love this little bird. He is now owned by a teenage 4H young lady who plans to show him in a show next month. She already has one State Championship and thinks little Cleo may be her second. BTW, Cleo is only about 6 weeks old in this photo. If I get a good grown up photo, I...
Did you find out what the masses were? I have the same thing on my hens, some worse than other. The one I checked today did not have any bugs that were in the area that I could see, just the masses attached to the feather shaft at the base.

The geese try to bully the chickens out of...
You were absolutely correct. I called the hatchery in Idaho and they confirmed that they did hatch what they call Blue Gems. One must have gotten
Very handsome boy!! A good rooster is such a delight!
You know, I think you could be right. I had some Sapphire Gems a few years ago. My favorite was named Gemma, but she was dark all over, smaller than the rest. She was very friendly before she started laying eggs, then she just kind of kept to herself, except for treats of course.
What breed is the grey chicken at the front of the photo? I have one that looks just like that. I bought it in a group of what were supposed to be Ameracuanas. But she does not lay blue eggs. I think she lays a medium dark brown. She is also has a very different personality as the confirmed...
Well you may have to move into the coop and let the chickens have the house. Hopefully they will be as good as you are and let you come in the house to make them breakfast!
