Our tomatoes, peppers, and marigolds have all sprouted. The tomatoes got a jump on me though. They sprouted and I didn't realize it so they got a little leggy, growing about 4 inches in just a day or two before I turned the lights on. The peppers and marigolds sprouted under the lights along...
The first seeds are planted! Indoors of course, but gardening nonetheless. DD and DS helped me plant trays of tomatoes (Super Beef, Black Cherry, and Roma), peppers (Carnival Bell and Jalapeno), and a 10-pack of marigolds. 150 starter cells in total, and that's just the start. Might be less...
Been a long time. Hope the gardens are all doing well. I'm just starting to plan this year's vegetable garden. The garden is under of blanket of snow at the moment. Only things really worth carrying about it there are the garlic and asparagus, both of which are still dormant for the winter...
I have SO MANY EWO. They've completely taken over a 4'x4' area of a bed and continue trying to spread to the other half of the bed. I started thinking them out this year by giving some to my mother for her new garden. I could easily take out 4 or 5 times as many.
Could you double
Up the siding to overlap the existing board? Running overlapping boards vertically would be even better.
Definitely put a board across the edge of the roof.
Peas are growing. Should be picking them any day now. Picked one today just for the heck of it. Small sweet peas inside. DD sized the opportunity to eat her first fresh pea of the year. She doesn't touch them cooked, but loves popping pods in the garden and devouring fresh peas.
Cut the grass...
Went to Menards yesterday to grab a 6 pack of tomatoes because we had some room still. DD went with.
We came home with 4 6-packs of flowers, 2 6-packs of tomatoes, catawba grape bare root, concord grape bare root, 2 thornless raspberry bare roots, and two bags of chips, which came from a stop...
Question for the fruit tree lovers:
Why would my two native plums both flower but not develop fruit at all? I don't even see tiny fruit falling off. Just nada, zilch, zero! I have two of them and they are close to each other so bees would easily go from flowers on one tree to the other.
Corn is sprouted. Lots of it! Potatoes are coming up to - watching them for when I need to add more straw. Watermelon vines are starting to take off, although they might slowdown a bit since are lows are dipping down to the high 40s at night this week. Need to plant more greens soon as possible.
Went camping for the weekend. Came back and the garden looks good except for a few weeds. I forgot to plant greenbeans on Friday that I started soaking on Thursday. The bowl was out of water (only filled it to cover the seeds) but the beans were still wet and plump. Some just began to sprout...
Mom's garden bed is filled with 3.5 cubic yards of garden soil. 100's of shovels and approx. 20 wheel barrows ran from the front curb all the way to the back fence where we setup the garden. We planted 6 tomatoes, 6 bell peppers (3 different varieties), about 100 onions, and 3 turnips (for the...
Mom's bed are built assembled except for the top rails that will wrap all around - hence the stack of boards in the pic. The bed is getting filled with garden soil tomorrow along with a barrier at the bottom to keep grass or weeds from growing up through the bed from the existing lawn below.
I cheated on replanting the pepper seeds... found 6 packs at Menards for $2.99 and grabbed a few. No waiting for germination again. Puts only about a week or two behind given the size of these plants being just a bit smaller than my starts were.
Not my garden, but I built 13 panels that will...
Out with the family much of the day, but we managed to transplant 8 summer squash, 6 basil, and 4 dill. Getting out done little by little. Need to plant more greens (lettuce, spinach, kale and chard) and get those pepper seeds replanted.
