What's the temperature where you are???

18C (65f) quite the change from the past few days of mid 20s as a low at night. These wild swings are not the summer norm here. 28C to 30C during the day and around 19 or 20 overnight lows. Sure hope my winter isn’t crazy like this summer!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I am more inclined to think it is heat related or they ate something they shouldn’t have. Or a combo of both. They pick at and eat everything, and if they were affected by the heat it could lower their resistance and cause an illness. I think heat is worse than cold sometimes. Any extremes...

Cover your ears Clyde! You are a real chicken - this I know, because only chickens deposit yucky cecal poops on the floor for me to slip in.

Oh Buttercup is still around - she is one of my escape artists. Today she and the other escapees made a dash for the back again. I tell you it’s a full time job just chasing those around! Buttercup and Curly She is one of Mr P’s ladies, and she lays blue eggs!

Another choice is Tylenol - I use the infant liquid stuff. Dose is 10mg/kg. The infant stuff is 80mg in 1cc (that’s 1ml), the syringe has a 1/4ml (.25ml or .25cc). I would think you wee fella would take a bit less than the .25ml - I give the silkies less than the .25ml about half way between...

What's the temperature where you are???

Yup - that was my hay mow today - 100F up in that mow and all the humidity. And darn my chocolate covered peanuts all melted - big disappointment!

What's the temperature where you are???

Even my banana plants are wilting in the heat, and they generally love the sunny hot weather. Thankfully the temps have dropped off and the wind has swapped to the NW, no rain though - yet.

    This chicken is not dead

She’s a frizzle, like Curly. They are my mutant chickens. She also needs to moult which I am hoping she does soon. But those feathers are dangerous if they get you in the eye!
