I somehow ended up with 3 broodies sharing 20 chicks. Cardhu and PITA sleep together with chicks. But PITA and Focus range together with chcks drifting between them.
That's cause we had a rainbow in the incubator. 20 chicks hatched and all 3 broodies adopted them all. The chicks seem to be playing musical mamas....and are a week old.

finally caught a hummingbird. New feeder location, and the territorial war is on. Other spots are very active, so no good pics
1 suggestion from 1st hand experience. Turn the hives so the entrances face the fence. This way, anyone approaching the hives isn't walking toward the entrance. Being right in front of the entrance can make you viewed as a threat to the hive, causing the hive to attack.

Straight comb, feathered feet....not light brahmas (they have a smoky undertone to the down, no spots), French white marans or white cochins are possibilities.

That's why I'm delighted that mamas are raising the babies. The littles move around so much I can't get an accurate head count at the moment. The adults I can count.
I have to state that I have no experience with bantams. Cheetah and his daughters are pretty small for standard breeds and Hector, while currently my largest roo, isn't the largest I've ever had.
