    English Mauve Orpington

Ahhhh, lots of fun colors! I see a chocolate baby and the buffs, but the other ones are gonna need to get some feathers in first! :D Love the coloring of the one next to the black body and yellow head! That one is going to be really pretty! I'm jealous!

What did you do with your flock today?

Spent today with our sweet rooster Ruby who is showing signs of older age. My daughter is home for Spring Break and felt he needed some love…he’s such a good boy. Hung out like this with her all day. 🥰❤️

    California - Northern

I haven’t done business with them personally, but I’ve seen them at the Poultry Expo as a vendor and they are a legit business that sold a LOT of quail last year. There is a NorCal Quail Facebook page that isn’t as active as it used to be, but you can find quail people there as well!

What did you do with your flock today?

I have a friend who got something like this from Nestera and her only real complaint was that it was smaller than she wanted. The ease of cleaning was her favorite part. :D I would say the most important thing in plastic coops is sufficient ventilation, and the Omlet's never had an issue with...

What did you do with your flock today?

@ChicksnMore I saw your OD post and meant to reply and then got sidetracked by all the chaos with AI and poultry show cancellations and forgot to reply!! Your ODs are just gorgeous and I'm hoping they start laying really soon so we can discuss an egg swap!! :D I just love the coloration on them...

What did you do with your flock today?

I do have plastic coops and they are superior in every way with regards to cleaning and mites. They are not any better with regards to rats and a bit worse for that because it is not easy to patch up plastic once damaged. They are pricey, but they are definitely worth it when it comes to low...

    The AMERAUCANA thread

Yeah, it’s been mainly impacting the dairy/raw milk users…but they had a couple big poultry outbreaks at Metzer and a backyard flock up north so they decided to cut things off before they could get started I guess. I’m just hoping it helps allow us to still have the County Fair at the end of...

    The AMERAUCANA thread

Ahhh congratulations!! I’m jealous you still get to have poultry shows! They canceled all of ours because of HPAI :-( We did have some success at the two we were able to go to—but I’m super bummed that our season ended before I could really show off my black pullet as she is finally filling...

What did you do with your flock today?

Mimi (Miyuki) is 3 this year, so she’s still young. She’s got a lot of odd neuroses, including weakened back legs and lack of balance. She also never seems to gain much weight and goes from fine to ravenous very quickly. It also seems like she can’t see very well and she chews very weirdly, like...

What did you do with your flock today?

I’m not sure that I have the energy…I think I’m operating in a deficit which is part of the problem 😆😆 Thank you for saying that though! Sometimes I feel like if I can’t find a way to make it all work I’m letting the kids down…but I’m learning that it’s better that they have a mom that’s not...

What did you do with your flock today?

I know, my therapist tells me all the time that I need to stop filling the spaces…I’m slowly learning she’s right haha. It’s hard because I want to be able to do it all! Turns out I’m only human and that’s really not possible 😆🤪 So glad the band is back!! It fills my cup!! ❤️❤️

What did you do with your flock today?

It looks awesome! You guys really do it right when you do things for your animals ❤️❤️ Seeing your dry, green, beautiful run area makes me very jealous though 😆😆 Right now mine are all brown gray mud and skeleton trees. We just got thru a week of rain they called a “family” of atmospheric...

What did you do with your flock today?

I’m so sorry to hear about Tuck!! I’m sure he was little but mighty! ❤️ Hugs friend, it hurts so much loving our animals the way that we do. So glad to hear from you though! I can’t wait to hear the updates on things. Life is always pushing us along…teaching us all the things. I too need me...

What did you do with your flock today?

Thanks! Yes, 2024 my daughter played softball and soccer (all year) and volleyball (this Fall on top of soccer and softball), and my son played baseball in spring, basketball in summer, soccer this Fall, and is now playing flag football 🤪. Plus we do show chickens and I run the Poultry Project...

What did you do with your flock today?

Happy Holidays all. It’s been awhile since I’ve had time to catch up on here, but I’ve missed you all! @TropicalBabies im so sorry to hear about Elliot and all the losses youve suffered this year. I know your heart will need time to heal, but like @Shetland lover said…make sure you are doing...

    The AMERAUCANA thread

Red Roof Hens in NC has a bantam line of BBS Ameraucanas and some other project colors. I have some of her BBS and while they’re not perfect, they’re healthy and great temperament and a great starting point. Some of her line and their sons I mixed with another line I have. :-)

    The AMERAUCANA thread

I like him! His tail is high and makes his back look short, but he has really great color and a nice full muff and beard, and a nice wide and deep looking chest. I’d see how he does as a breeder before discounting him. He may make some very nice ladies with that type! 😍
