We have nearly 14 years of fluffy butts to post yet -- just a few pics at a time :love
(2011) Poor Trumpet -- isolated waiting to go to his new home. Such a sweetie but we're not zoned for roos :(!
We traded cockerel Trumpet for a laying Cuckoo Marans -- her back feathers were missing from...
Faverolles are so cute! I love gentle temperament breeds but w/ reports from owners that Faverolles are prone to be bullied in spite of their large size and not known as too smart I decided not getting them for our backyard. We free range our backyard limit of 5 hens/no roos so we needed...
Fluffy butts following the Leader wherever she may go!
Silkies Violet & Trumpet behind Bela's butt (2011). Bela the Leghorn joined our Silkies a week after we got them and they instantly trusted her.
I've never been to a poultry show either & don't even know if our Southern Calif area ever has them. During Newcastles or AI outbreaks I know past shows around the country were canceled in past years. If you ever do go to a show take a lot of pics and post them plz :fl
So so so sad -- dear Cluckie and so pretty. :hugs
We've had Crows in huge neighborhood murders (Crow flocks are called murders). Hawks are wiley at lingering/stalking/observing a chicken and territorial Crows hate intruding Hawks and will chase off Hawks. Our murders fly over our neighborhood...
Leghorn pullet and Silkie fluffy butts (2011)
"Bela" (pronounced "Bay-lah" means white)
Fluffy butts - "Bela" was added a week after getting Violet & Trumpet.
3 fluffy butts -- Bela, Violet, Trumpet -- were hatched by a home school friend
I'm cycling thru 13 yrs of fluffy butts but will only post one at a time or I might hog up 20 straight pages if I posted all pics at once!:D
Our very first two backyard chickens
"Shrinking Violet" (poofy rear) and "Trumpet" the cockerel

Just like Silkies who are black fleshed, black meat, black organs, black eyes, black legs but strangely have turquoise ears. Of course, the blood will be red as normal.
Black feathered or dark partridge Silkies can have some turquoise fading ears if broody or molting or sick.
W/ arthritis, aching muscles, restless leg syndrome, joint pain -- DH and I take a magnesium drink mix which enters the body immediately to dull symptoms. Some people will drink a calcium/magnesium powder mix but I'm prone to kidney and gallstones so I just drink the magnesium by itself --...
DH & I have so many physical issues, he says the only cure for old age is death. Then we're promised a new heaven & earth plus a body that never ages! W/ my healing broken arm right now I look forward to a world w/ no more tears, pain, or sorrow.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all...
I wear my cheap pair of reading glasses whenever dealing w/ any age chicken. They peck at everything. We often trim feathers around our Silkies faces so we take precautions wearing glasses so we dont get a claw or a beak in our eye.
