Roosters are not just for breeding. Their #1 job is to protect the girls. So this "harassment," isnt for nothing. I have several roosters on acreage that do an amazing job keeping my girls safe.
It can be a permanent fix if he isnt bred. If there is total honesty in the re-homing- they know exactly what theyre getting- I don't think a previous owner would be liable for anything. Worth a shot anyway. I have land and several coops with chickens who are able to free range. The right setup...
Just wanna say you have an amazingly big heart✨️🥹 I hope Rocco finds a home or learns how to behave. There are groups dedicated to helping aggressive roosters/bonding with your roo. On instagram theres a page called Quakersandfernie. She is a rooster whisperer.
So I noticed this baby outside the nest this morning. Still alive ,but barely- and cold so I put back under mom. I went out again and the chick was outside the nest again!! so I figured mom was rejecting because it was gone too long. Anyway I have it under a lamp it perked up considerably! I...
She hasn't left the nest yet. Last one hatched yesterday. We wanted to bring 2-3 inside to be friendlier. But I really don't want to stress her out. There are 6 total. She.is a good mom, this her 3rd time hatching babies.
Ok I was wondering if his crossbeak had something to do with it. Thank you! I do have a perch in their setup, but I think it may be too high for him, as he is the only one not on it. Prob his crossbeak throwing him off balance? Ill get him a low perch stat. Thank you so much!
I have a 4 week old baby chick who has a pretty bad crossbeak. He always seemed to be more chill than the other chicks. Today he seems really lethargic and to himself. He has periods where he is gasping for air when he laying down. When he is up, he is not. I have his food and water up high to...
Update for today- Bertha had a pretty good day. No more penguin stance. She was dust bathing, eating, and drinking. Her comb color is completely back to normal. She is still slower than her usual though. Im reading that she can still have EYP, eventhough she seems to be recovering. My qs are...
Ok here is her poop from right now. She is still lethargic, although a lil more pep in her step. Just gave her a dose of cephlaxin and calcium. Electrolite water w sugar and scrambled egg w poultry cell. She isn't interested in either because she's mad at me forcing meds down her😅 So she...
I have not seen her poop today, I let her go out n free range w the flock today because she is happier with them. I don't have to worry about bullying as she is a top hen. I will put her in th e run and watch her poop! Thank you!
Big Bertha hasn't laid yet. She has perked up considerably. She's drinking and nibbling and her comb isn't blue-ish anymore. Still treating her nonetheless. She is still lethargic and def not normal.
Today she is still tail down and penguin walking, lethargic, not moving much- But she is drinking on her own and taking nibbles at food. I gave her a dose of cephlaxin and electrolytes.
She seems to enjoy the baths, she relaxes and even snoozes a little and seems to have energy after. The energy does fade, however. She seems to be pushing. Fluffing up briefly and pushing. I gave her 3 calcium pills today because I read it online somewhere 🤦♀️. I should've asked here first as...
Our fav hen is egg bound or has egg yolk peritonitis . I've given her a bath every 2.5 hrs, Given her calcium, and gently massaged her bottom. I rubbed coconut oil around her vent. Im worried about giving her too much calcium. How much is safe ? She is still able to pass liquid poop at the...
