Passing a large magnet over the ground can pull up things that were tossed aside. Here I can get one at a discount hardware store. A metal detector would be another way to go. I have no idea how expensive those are but the magnets aren't too bad.

This is just me but my scientific mind is telling me that it is more likely she ingested something like a galvanized nail than the soil is poisoned with it. If the soil was poisoned with it, wouldn't they all have that problem? Especially those that have lived there longer?

It's a little sad that now when I take them for rides it's usually very serious and hard to enjoy with them.
