It's easy to hate the heat when it makes you feel sicker than hell....
....and especially when you have no air conditioning.
I dread it.
Made bread today, been a long time but I remembered how and it turned out nice.
Scary shit there....hope she's OK.
First step to shade cloth installation done, 20' extension ladder out of shed and set up in place.
Just wonderfully cool out there this morning.
Another loverly sunny day...got kinda hot(~80) outside, but after a night in the 50's the house stayed pretty cool. Rained late yesterday and overnight. Even cooler tonight/tomorrow.
Plan to get the shade cloth up before midweek when it's gonna get nasty hot during the days again.
Got feed moved...
...and cooler nights.
It's been wonderful!
Trying very hard not to think about the heat coming....
....except to get the shade cloth up and other coop windows open before it hits. Ladder work, uhg.
UHG....mid 80's today, high 80's tomorrow.
Windows all buttoned up and DIY pushup pops in the freezer.
Supposed to cool way back off starting on Wednesday. :yesss:
I just wiped my hand on the underside of the roost, looking for blood smears. Nothing. They go to roost before full dark so not sure the avoidance has to do with pests. If the trend repeats itself I will look closer. The pecking/roosting order is rather fluid these days, many pick different...
Ahh, that is something I hadn't thought about.
That roost was occupied again tonight after a couple-few nights.
I did run my hand underneath looking for blood smears.
Rainy here, nice soft rain with cool temps....feels and sounds nice.
Evidence of ground hog digging near/under the pondsai and deck.
All the chooks seem to be avoiding the short leg of roost, odd.
15 minutes with the string trimmer did me in, arms and hands shaking, back aching. Stinks becoming decrepit, gotta try to find some satisfaction in tiny accomplishments.
