A Message From a Bee: If You Can Hear Me, Let the Flowers Grow Again
Hello, dear human.
I know I’m small. You might not even notice me when I pass by. But I see you. I see your gardens, your windows, your streets… and lately, I see so...
Mini rant ahead...
Yesterday I bought a quart of strawberries from the grocery store. I intend to make simple syrup with them. I looked them over very very carefully before purchasing to ensure none were rotten. They all looked in very good condition.
I ALWAYS soak my store bought fruit in...
Made a simple syrup with the rest of the cherries I bought a little over a week ago. Put the pulp in the oven to make some fruit leather. Was going to chuck the seeds out and then I thought "why not try to grow them?" I would like some sweet cherry trees...
So what do I have to lose?
I may need to move it somewhere it will get shade in the afternoon. It's easily lost at least a third of its leaves and all the baby lemons smaller than a quarter are dropping off. It's definitely stressed....
Scattered storms all over the state today... All of them seem to be missing me. Grrrrrr... When I watered yesterday, I forgot to water the lemon tree. All the leaves are curled and about to fall off. 😞 I'll have to go out this evening and give it a drink since Mother Nature is not in an...
How are you mixing or applying the neem?
I've found it doesn't work on adult squash bugs but does work against nymphs. With the adults, I just pick them off and squash them.
It was supposed to rain today, but so far everything has completely missed us... 😕 Guess that means I should probably go out and water the container plants before they get any more crispy....
Brought in 2 very small sugar pie pumpkins and a cushaw squash whose vines had been killed by SVB...
Remember how I said I've been trying to get dandelions to grow around here? Well today I found these growing in the pasture in just a few spots... 😂 Not the type of dandelions I was going for... I think God has a sense of humor. This is what is called a Texas False Dandelion.
Mine does try to use ours to mow the pasture from time to time, but he always sets the blade way too low. I try to keep it around 7-8 inches. That's enough to cut down the weeds but still gives the grass enough energy to not totally die out in the high heat and baking sun. He always cuts it down...
We have 2 regular riding mowers (Cub Cadet and a Husqevarna)... I couldn't even tell you how to turn them on. That's DH job... 😂 However, I do use the brush mower on the Kubota to mow around the barn and pasture. I hate, hate, HATE walking through grass or weeds above my ankles. Not to mention...
I wash them, then chop it "fry size. Put them in a gallon ziploc bag. In a separate bowl, I mix the dry ingredients below. Then mix in the wet ingredients... Add the the ziploc bag. We deep fry for about 6-7 minutes. Then throw them in the oven on 375 for about 10 minutes. Helps them get a...
I know Gurney's sells them online. I've also seen them locally at Lowes. But I tried to go the cheap route and grow them from seed... However 2 years in a row, they failed to get beyond a half inch tall. I've tried to sow them in both pots and in the ground.
