How to treat the feeding area? Suggestions please!

We free range our little flock of chickens and ducks and we feed them away from their run on a sloping piece of ground that is earth and shale. We have been using it for about 5 years and would like to clean it somehow to get rid of any bacteria from their poo. Has anyone done this kind of thing...

A family of foxes killed my ducks!

I just lost 2 of my ducks tonight. 6.00pm, broad daylight, 2 grown fox cubs got at them in the field and killed my white khaki and one of the brown ones. My daughter heard something and ran up the field in bare feet to see a fox with one of the chickens in its mouth. It dropped her and ran and...

I have just bought DE to use for the chickens both in their food and in the shed, dust baths etc. I have read on the website that you can put a little in your dog's coat to kill fleas, ticks etc. Do any of you do this? I am worried about them inhaling it when they groom themselves. Is that...

I found 2 of my chickens had spent last night out under a tree in the snow!! The coldest night of the year and they were there because they won't step on the snow. You stupid creatures - you walked on it to get up there in the first place!!! I tried to herd them down and they run round and...

What is your dog's favourite toy? Is it the cheapest??

Of all the toys that my dogs have when they come in the house the favourite is the inside of a tennis ball with the fuzzy outer stripped off!!! Both jac and Ruby head for it straight away and it features in games every evening!! Why buy toys when they prefer such cheap and basic entertainment...

Anyone know where I stand by law? (UK)

I had a letter from my employer yesterday saying they have made a mistake and have overpaid me by £1000 over a period of months. Stan, my young cockerel has gone to the forest and now it is raining!!

My second cockerel I hatched has started to challenge me at just 13 weeks old so we decided he needs to go and live with the young pheasants in a different part of the forest to Fred, the first cockerel. I have to admit to being frightened of cockerels and was very disappointed when 2 of my 4...

My young roo loves his new home and all his strange new friends!!!!!:)

Fred, my spare roo I hatched, went to his new home yesterday. He now lives in a very large pen with 250 young pheasants that belong to the local shoot. If he behaves he will live there and not be shot as he won't fly like a pheasant!! We let him in and he strutted across, crowing, and was quite...

A friend went to an auction to buy 6 chicks and was successful bidding for 1 lot. Unknown to her if you buy one lot you can also buy 2 more the same. Last week I was driving to town on a fast piece of road and was flashed by an oncoming motorist.
