I know mostly everyone gets excited when they see that one of their hens laid their first egg and some may want to save it and keep it forever.
One of my pullets just laid her first egg and I'm tempted at preserving the shell, just to keep it as a memory as crazy as that may sound lol I was...
Just wanting to hear from those who use supplements or vitamins for the chicks and why :D I'm talking like sav-a-chick (electrolytes), probiotics, apple cider vinegar.. etc.
I'm interested on how you guys have set up the brooder. Include some pics!
Do you like the heating plates or the heating lamp better?
Do you use shavings or dog training pads, or what kind of bedding? I believe shavings decrease odor.
Just wanting to hear opinions. I want to vaccine my chicks, but upon some research here, I found that it might not be a good idea. Just want everyone's input. Thanks
Hello, my previous username was Skitz and back in 2007-2011 I was very active and had made lots of cool friends on here. We interacted a lot and participated in various games we created here in the forums. We may now be too old to be playing those games though lol

Hello everyone, I'm creating an article here on BYC about incubating eggs and need a few clear reference pictures. I will definitely list and give you credit for the images. I am looking for:

I'm interested in trying to "breed" seramas but I dont know exactly where to start. I know the gene is recessive, but would crossing a frizzled serama with a smooth serama produce a chance of having frizzled offspring?
I have gone to alert preferences and set everything to where it alerts me when I'm mentioned, reacted to, and quoted. I still keep getting notifications when someone replies to a thread I have replied to. I want to disable this, too many notifications. Am I missing something to turn off?
Hello everyone, I got some eggs shipped and of course a lot of them had detached air cells. I did leave them upright for 2 days without turning and the ones that didn't have detached air cells went into a separate incubator with an automatic turner. The ones with detached, saddled, and weird air...
I've been wanting to hatch chicks but unfortunately I live in an area where I can't have any. I just enjoy the incubating process and hopefully if I'm lucky I can sneak and keep a couple chicks 😁 I can deliver if you're around Amarillo/Canyon/Dumas TX area. Not willing to ship.
I have eggs that are on day 21, temp and humidity have been constant throughout incubation, no issues. I have hatched multiple times before, but never had issues with wrong pip ends. A little bit ago I noticed two pipped on the sides. I verified by candling to see if they were near the air cell...
Hey guys, hope you all are doing well. I just put 12 mixed chicken eggs in the 'bator two days ago and I'm ready for them to hatch already lol
Who else is expecting?? what do you have in the 'bator!? :D
