Last night, my sweet orloff hen, Norman, was found lying dead on the coop floor. She didn't look injured and we couldn't smell anything like we did when Buffy got a disease. We recently integrated nine young pullets into the flock, but there hasn't been any problems with the integration. We have...
Hi! I was wondering if chickens could eat cheese. I've fed them cottage cheese, and they ate it all up, but can they eat old macaroni and cheese? What about cheese scraps, like the kind you'd put in a sandwich? Thanks in advance for any help!
I feel like a new comer just now, because I'm seeing all these threads for RPs and don't have a clue what it's about. Could someone please explain what a RP is and what you do in it? Thanks in advance! :idunno
You probably know how this works. We start at 50. If you chose ducks, add one to the number before you. If you're a chicken person, subtract one. If ducks get to 100, they win. If chickens reaches 0, they're the winners.
50.
Hi, all! Thought it would be fun to post pics and talk about our Orloffs. Mine have these weird bald patches on their backs, is that normal? Sorry, I can't post pics of my two Orloffs, Connie and Norman. :yiipchick
Hi, everyone! I just finished cleaning my big, old coop and thought it would be fun to know how long it takes y'all. It took me 1hr. and 30 mins. It's nice to see a clean coop! I have 15 hens and, as I said, a big coop. I havn't cleaned it in about two months or so. How long does it take YOU...
Hi, all. I have a one year old RIR hen (she's a big girl). Ermy is her nickname. I noticed last night that she was in a nesting box. When I put her on the floor, she stood, ate a little food, and did this weird backing up thing. She put her head back and moved backward. She did this about three...
Hi, all! I'm not sure that a lot of people do this, but I sometimes cook my gals' eggs and feed it to them. (I hope this thread is in the right place) I thought it would be interesting to find out how other people cook their egg to treat their birds. I make scramble eggs and add in some...
I have a hen that hasn't been moving too much. She's been seriously losing weight and has a thin breast bone. I've been told she has egg yolk peritonitis. How should I treat her?
Hello. I have a hen that isn't doing too well. She isn't making much movement. She will run for treats, occasionally, and can get up and down the roosting poles, but she doesn't move unless she needs to. I saw a bit go after her the other day, but otherwise, she's been getting along with my...
I started this thread before that someone might want to refer to:

Anyway, my poor little hen has been separated from her flock of 15 birds total. I separated her because she was...
I have a chicken whose claws are pretty long. I'm going to clip them soon, but can anybody tell me how short is too short? I would hate to have her start bleeding just because I clipped her nails into the quick...
After returning from a long vacation, we found ourself with a mite-infested chicken coop. We have 15 hens and no roosters. We found our smallest hen, a golden campine bantam, I believe, hiding in a nesting box. She was the scraggliest out of all of our birds. We isolated her and gave all of our...
