What to do about outgrowing the brooder and not being ready for the coop this time of year?
I have my first chicks (ever), now 4 weeks old, 8 total; one breed (2 birds) turn out to be slightly larger birds. They are all in a large-dog crate, homemade brooder, and fast outgrowing the brooder...
I know this topic has come up before, and even by me. Though I only skimmed the summary conclusions of this report, I thought I'd share this report from WA State Dept of Ecology.
They just completed a study on pollutants found in roof run off.

I am building my coop from lumber that came out of a nearby house. As I've made my way through the pile, there is evidence of previously wetted sheetrock (small discolored pieces still attached) and some powdery 'stuff' on many of the studs. I suspect it's mold.
Some is white and some is yellow...
