    Chicken eating eggs.

    I went out to collect eggs this evening, and found 1 egg in a nesting box, and evidence that there had been another. There was yolk still in the bottom of the nest . Any ideas on how to stop this , or identify the offender would be very helpful. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

    Hens not laying

    I got my birds last Sunday 9-7-14 they are 2 years old I have 6 hens and a rooster, but am only getting like 1 egg per day. I know the move can be stressful for them, & we just read this morning that I might not have been feeding them enough. Any ideas, input on hoe I can get them going again...

    The coop is done, mostly.

    The last 2 days have been a blur, as I have been busting my hump to get the coop ready for birds, which I picked up today YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! I got 7 hens and a Rooster for $60.00 the rooster is a R.I. Red yay again. The hens are a mix some are Brown Isas, I think, & the others I don't know...

    Building my first coop.

    Breeds

    I live in northern Indiana, and was looking at some of the breeds at MacMurrays. I'm thinking about starting with Either R.I. Reds , New Hampshire Reds , or Barred Rocks. These three seem to meet my desire for dual purpose birds, layers and meat. Any feed back is welcome.
