i have an older EE, 5 or 6 yrs old. I picked her up the other day and noticed her crop was hard. She has always been on the heavy side, so I really did not notice it before. So I started with the oil and water, then went to the Ducolax with Epsom Salt in her water. Still not much coming out...
Hi Everyone,
Need some advice. After 5 years of having an automatic chicken door opener, a raccoon chewed through our heavy duty netting covering the run and pulled up the chicken door in the middle of the night. He actually did this three different times. We figured out how he was getting in...
Hi Everyone,
I'm so distraught!!! I've not had a problem with anything getting my chickens for six years or more. Now all of a sudden, something has found a way in the run and then is able to lift the automatic coop door.
We have checked everywhere for an entrance, but only little holes here...
Hi Everyone,
I took in this hen maybe two springs ago. She came to me with a large Bumblefoot on one of her toes which I immediately started working on. I did get a lot of stuff out of it, but it was still a large swollen toe. It did heal then came back again this summer. I've been working on...
Hi everyone,
Our baby duck, maybe 6 weeks old, grabbed up one of the chocolate chips from my daughter. Any advice on what to do?? We were thinking try and get it to eat lots of food and then let her swim in the bathtub hoping she would drink a lot of water??
Thanks for any suggestions.
I know longer use the products listed below, instead at the recommendation of many on this site, I've changed over to Vetericyn. Lots of places carry it, Tractor Supply, Amazon, Southern States, etc.It is wonderful for healing, and I've even used it for myself a time or two.
CUTS AND SCRAPES...
After posting on the other thread, I realized I should have started my own, sorry.
I have a new year old Barred Rock that was given to me because they no longer could have chickens. When I was going through inspecting everyone, found out that she had a really bad Bumblefoot spot on one toe. So...
Hi Everyone,
Hope someone can help me out. I have two Light Brahma Roosters, "Slippers" and "Boots" who I need to find a good loving home for. We are in Eldersburg, Maryland. These two fellows are beautiful and have been hand raised.
Please let me know if anyone knows of someone who might...
Finally getting around to taking some pictures of our new addition for the girls. They requested a porch for the rainy days to hang out on and under. Mom likes it too. They have to take turns sitting in the rocking chair with me. You would think they were little kids fighting to have a turn...
Would you all please take a look at my pictures here and see what you think about my 10-11 week old. I have two and my daughter has two also. We couldn't find pullets any where, so we had to buy straight run. Now we have fallen in love with this new breed to us. They are so cute and lovable, not...
Well, I've been trying to get our building journey documented on my page. My pictures turned out different sizes for some reason. I'm not good at computers, so maybe Hubby can clean it up later for me. If you have any suggestions on things we might not have thought about, please let me know. Not...
Back a few weeks ago, I was searching for info on bumblefoot and found a person here who sold meds on their site. I thought I had marked it but now can't find her. Please PM me if you read this!!
My Cochin Roo has bumblefoot in his toe. I tried myself and it just wouldn't go away. Finally I...
We are finishing up the inside of our new coop now, and I'm wondering if the chickens will be able to fly up to the rafters. The walls are 8 ft., so the rafters would be 8 ft high. Do you think they will try and get up there to roost?
Thanks,
Sandy
For those who have bought their coop windows and don't want the hardware cloth showing on the outside, what did you do on the inside to secure the window from animals coming in the coop? I really don't want the hardware cloth showing on the outside.
Today while checking on my girls, I noticed one with both feet swollen, one more so than the other. Can't understand how I didn't notice this yesterday. Anyway, I ran in and consulted you all here in your wonderful posts with lots of help. The only question I still have, is how do you know if...
Now I feel like we are really making headway on our new coop. Size is a 12' x 16', the first four feet will be a storage room with water! I'm so excited to have water in the coop along with electric. Hubby is doing a great job, but lots of hard work especially in with the high 90 degrees we've...
Does anyone know if you can feed the Water Hyacinth from our ponds to the chickens. This is the time of year when they are getting out of control and we throw them out. Wondering if they would be ok to feed to the girls.
Just wondering for those who might have put a sliding glass door in their coop somewhere, what they think about it. I believe I saw a picture a while back where someone used one. We have the option now of a slider or a regular door with full panel lights to let more light into the coop. My...
I'm wondering what the pros and cons of leaving the bottom of the coop open for the chickens to go under the coop would be??? Of course we would secure it all around so nothing could get in the run. Any help would be appreciated, we have the option of doing it both ways now.
When I went out to let the babies play in the big girl pen, I noticed Lou Lou had her tail up. It's always been down like her sister Muffin before. I tried to get pictures for you to check and make sure she is still a hen. I better watch it because you all might put me in the funniest question...
