Really thinking about just switching over to ducks after this. I have 4 hens that get plenty of live bugs (I buy live black soldier fly larvae), I buy the best feed, they get all the scraps from our meals, and they have an entire acre of grass just to themselves. However they're eating each...
Hi all! I have a odd yard, but basically there's about a acre of alfalfa field between me and my neighbor I got permission from the alfalfa field owner to let the chickens go out and graze for pests but apparently my neighbors dog was running up and down the fence barking at my chickens and...
Any guesses on what he/she is? They're starting to lose their fluff, and is getting a pretty brownish red color to her. The patterns coming through is gorgeous also. She's from TSC that uses Hoover's Hatchery as their supplier. It says all ducklings are purebred
My favorite and best laying hen seems to be having a rough time. First she had vent gleet, and I thought that could be why she was losing feathers so I started putting probiotics in her water. I also gave all the hens diatomaceous earth baths and deep cleaned their coop just in case of mites or...
I'm at a loss with trying to figure out what these ducklings are. They're a gray and off yellow color. Any guesses? They came from TSC assorted ducklings, but TSC gets them from Hoover's hatchery in my area.
I ordered 20 ducks on 3/15/2023 and 5 that were alive were delivered of assorted ducklings a week later, but my Khaki Campbells didn't even get to the post office until a week later after the other ducklings arrived. So I guess my question is how to get them safely together or if I should just...
I bought chickens from tractor supply co. and at first I thought I was getting easter eggers, but turns out that's a no haha. Someone said they look like Silver Spangled Hamburg hens, but this one has a lot of black on her. Maybe a "mutt"? Any ideas? She has like a blue/green tint to her black...
So fun story I went to TSC for dog food and saw the prettiest chicks I've ever seen they were labelled as "Easter Egger pullets", and I believed they were until they stayed purely black and white. I posted on here asking about maybe they were male, and someone commented they look like Silver...
When I bought my 4 chickens they were labelled as pullets, but I'm having my doubts about that. The two brownish ones (Blue & Echo) are Golden Comets, and the two black and white ones (Delta & Charlie) are Easter Eggers. They're all right around 2 months old, but any thoughts on if they're hens...
I have a golden comet that has what almost looks like a hole. All my other chicks are doing just fine, but she sneezes A LOT. Could it be mites or something else? This is my first time owning chicks so I want to try to get everything right, but I don't know what's going on with her :(
