Midget White turkeys for sale in the Vacaville CA area!
I have some for sale that hatched in 2011 and laid & hatched eggs for me this year, and also some younger birds that hatched this year.
Asking $40 for breeding pairs, and $65 for trios. Or individual males for $20 and individual...
I stumbled across a guy near me yesterday that has some India Blue eggs for sale, but all he said about price was "make me a fair offer". I've never bought pea eggs before, so I just have no idea what to offer him! Any ideas? It seems to me they can run around $5-9 an egg on ebay, but that is...
Hi! I don't own any peas, but have been considering getting them. I have chickens (mostly Buckeye), Ancona ducks, guineas, and Midget White turkeys that all free range our 5 acre property during the day and then go into coops at night. None of the birds ever leave the property, but I was...
I posted this over in meat birds and no one knew the answer, so let's try here....
I have a TON of extra drakes from this years hatching, and will need to be slaughtering some to eat to keep my numbers down (and ratios right!). What's a good age to butcher a drake? I was thinking around 3...
Do you scald your duck before plucking, assuming you have to hand pluck?
(This came up in my other newbie processing thread, but I wanted to post it under it's own title to hopefully get some more responses and insight.)
I'm planning on hanging some plastic behind my kill cones so blood doesn't get onto the wall, should I get something from home depot or will garbage bags work?
Hi again! So I have Ancona ducks that I'll be eating soon, and I have some young ducklings that are almost 5 weeks old and nearly fully feathered. I was thinking of processing them when they were about 2-3 months old and fully feathered- does that sound about right?
I have some older ducklings for $10 each, a little over a month old, straight run. Pick up only on these guys!
I am located near Davis, CA in Solano County.
Please don't use the Buy It Now- PM me if interested!! Thank you!
So I have a rooster that I'm going to process- my first time- but I also have some ducks I would like to do, too. If it's my first time ever processing anything, should I only do 1 bird so that I can see how it goes? Or since I'm getting every thing out and set up anyway, do you think I could...
So i woke up at 6am to find the power out and my incubator at 78! I expect I've lost all the eggs I was incubating, but I went ahead and turned on the generator and now the incubator is back up to almost 95 and working away. It's sooooo frustrating though- why does the power always have to go...
So I'm preparing to do some processing for the first time, but am not sure what I should hang my kill cones on... I'm not super crafty, so building one out of wood isn't the easiest for me, but I also don't exactly want to hang it on a tree and then have a bloody tree. Can a non-crafty person...
