3 month old chickens -- do I need to do something to get them to lay eggs?

Hi! So, I know my chickens won't start laying yet, but we have 1 Egyptian Fayoumi and I've read that they start laying pretty early. Our chickens are 3 months old and currently the nest boxes are blocked off. Should I open them soon, and do I have to teach them to go in there to lay? This is our...

Should my chicks have access to the coop all day?

Hi! Today we built a ramp for our chickens to access the coop from the run, and I've spent a while teaching them to use it. Am I supposed to leave the door to the coop open all day so that the chicks can access the coop? Also related to that, once the chicks learn to use the ramp, they will go...

    Chick's first night in coop!

Hi! Our chickens are going to spend their first night outside tonight! I'm a little worried about them going to bed to early, because there aren't that many windows in the coop. Do I need a night-light or will they be fine? Also, do I need food and water in both the coop and the run? Thanks! :)
