Sold to me as a silkie but I’m thinking not. Perhaps a cross? 8 weeks old - thinking it’s probably a little cockerel, but really hard to tell!
Would love to hear your guesses!
These chicks are just a bit shy of 8 weeks and I have no clue! These are new breeds for me and I’m finding them more difficult than normal to guess.
2 dark brahmas, 2 buff brahmas, and 1 lavender Orpington
I’d appreciate your insight. Thank you all!
I have two - they both look like Meeker here - sold to me as Buff Orpingtons; 10 weeks old.
They seem awfully red-tinted. Are they something else or is this what young BO pullets look like?
Thanks!!!
Out of the seven chicks I hatched - four of which are most certainly roosters - these three are my only hope for hens. Would love your opinions…
#1 - Lakenvelder
#2 - Easter Egger
#3 - Olive Egger
First time chicken mom - my seven hatched about 3.5 weeks ago, so I have lots of questions re: chicken lingo.
When people say that pullet feathers are more rounded and cockerel feathers are more straight, what exactly does that mean? Like the ends of the feather itself? How it fans out to the...
3.5 weeks old…
This seems to be the chick evading all the best guesses. Too soon to call or is it a foregone conclusion that I have my fourth roo? (Forgive the first time chicken mom - they kind of consume all my thoughts now that they finally hatched and joined our little family!!!)
Not their first field trip outside a little over three weeks old and they all just want to sit on my lap. Now I am NOT complaining - but are they scared or something?
The weather is nice, they are familiar with the location, I am stumped!
I know it is way too soon, but I’d love to hear some veteran opinions on sex. I hatched 7 almost three weeks ago (one auto-sexing) and am already in love with these little goofballs!
