How to manage two broody hens

Hi friends! I have a setup of two separate pens and runs—one for my cream legbars, and one for my whiting true blues and other breeds I cross with them. I also have a separate 3x6 brooder box. I currently have one broody on eggs that should start hatching tomorrow in the brooder box, and I...

    Red hen laying pink egg

Hi friends! I bought some whiting true blue and whiting true greens from mcmurray last spring and they threw in 4 bonus chicks. I see now why some people request to not get any extra. Identifying them is quite the task! We ended up with an extra WTB Roo, an australorp, a buttercup, and I thought...

Custom Co-Op Feed Blend for Laying Hens

Hi friends! We have decided to move away from commercial feed and have our feed blended at a local co-op so we can buy in bulk totes to store in our barn. Whiting True Blue Roo + Creme Legbars

Does anyone have experience breeding a Whiting True Blue Rooster with Creme Legbar hens? I know the eggs will be blue, but I'm wondering if the offspring will be auto-sexing like the Creme Legbars? 🤞🏻 (One can dream.)

Whiting True Blue Breeding - What to look for?

Hi friends! I am new to WTBs and I'd love to offer hatching eggs as well as chicks from my flock. I'm wondering what to look for in my birds/eggs/roosters to produce the best offspring. I have two roosters (one gray, and one multicolored) and 6 hens. Since they are all so very colorful, I don't...

    How to price hatching eggs

Hi friends! I have whiting true blue hens and roosters and would like to sell the fertilized eggs for hatching. The prices I’m finding online are anywhere from $40 a dozen to $10 an egg 😮. I’ve never sold hatching eggs so I’m at a loss on pricing. I would also like to sell the true blue crosses...

    What’s on my roosters’ combs??

My roosters have black spots on their combs, and now they have some white. They’ve been vaccinated. Could it be from mites? Or fungus? Some of the black spots will scratch off, but the roo did not like me messing with them. Any suggestions on doctoring, care, and prevention? Thanks, friends!
