    Question about electric poultry fencing

I am seriously considering installing some electric poultry fencing in the spring. I have one acre of property and about 1/3 of which I stopped mowing a few years ago. While that makes my property upkeep easier, I really hate the way it looks. So I am thinking about rotating my chickens around...

Buff Orpington Pullet very tiny compared with coop-mates

I have three buff orpington pullets (11 weeks old tomorrow). One is very tiny - about 2/3 the size of the others and about 1/2 the size of my silver laced wyandottes. Could I have gotten slipped a bantam from the hatchery? I'm a new chicken momma and have never seen a full grown bantam to make a...

My worry is having the little gals fly over the 4' fencing. They seem to have no trouble trying out their wings in the enclosed pen...

Baby chickies get the zoomies. Yours?

It's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Every once in awhile the chicks hold their wings out and run the length of the brooder. I call it the zoomies. I'm assuming this is normal? They are 6 days old today. Everyone eats, drinks and poops fine.

Obscure ingredient lists on commerical feeds

I'm expecting my new peeps (first time chicken momma) next month. In researching feeds I am shocked and dismayed at the commercial feeds available to me locally. Almost all had similar ingredients lists: grain products, followed by plant protein products, followed by grain by-products and then...
