Today was the due date for my doe, Libby, to have her first litter of kits. I was waiting all week for today to arrive, and when it finally did, I was surprised to find her nest box completely cleared of all hay, and also to find a cute nest of babies in the corner of her cage, all nestled in...
So, I've hatched birds before. Lots and LOTS of duck eggs, a few dozen chicken eggs, and a couple geese eggs. So how are Quail different? What should I know about hatching quail? My dad has the chance to get his hands on some Corturnix Quail and wants to start hatching their eggs right away, yet...
Just got a pair of american geese the other day. they are lavender and blue too!! and didn't have to have them shipped in. not sure if pics will work but let me see. I cant take pics on my tablet so i have to email them to myself.
My mom ordered 60 white orpingtons fro mcmurray, and we only have 18 left. When we got them home, yesterday morning, I got the heat lamps set up (one on each side of the stock tank) put lots of hay, to keep them warm, gave food and water and made sure the cats couldn't get in. They kept dieing...
I had a trio of adult Rouens. All three were from a hatchery. I lost the drake 2 or 3 weeks ago( ) So I'm trying to find a good home for the 2 hens. Is $20 for 2 adult FEMALES to much? I have put about $20 in each of them for food/shelter/care ect. I didn't think it would take so long to rehome...
What would I get if I bred a Lavender Orpington rooster, to a blue Orpingoton hen? Would I get half and half?? () Or would I get all of one color? ( ) I have a hen and am having no luck getting my hands on a blue roo, but I have a chance to get a lavender roo. Please tell me what you think.
Ok, so I was at a friends and picked up 3 free rabbits. a girl and 2 boys. Their only 3.5 months old right now, and are living in the same cage. I was wondering, can the 2 boys share a cage? I want to keep them and the girl separated so she doesn't get pregnant till she is around a year old...
They turned 4 weeks.old on wednesday, and aren't starting to get their big duck feathers?! Could it be because they are from show stock? Came from TSQ order from holderread. They keep growing, just kinda worry some I think. Are they like defective...?! Please someone tell me this is normal! :fl
I have 5 Buff American goslings on their way from FL!! Ordered 2 pairs, but seller sent a extra male! So excited! Will post pics when they get here!
Thanks so much CelticOaksFarm!!!
Do ducks grow faster from 4 to 6 weeks, then from 0 to 4 weeks? When do they begin to get side feathers?? Mine all look like darn mini ducks!........ It may just be my head messing with me. But they don't have any feathers yet except the tail feathers.... Normal??
Thanks!
So, I was working in the yard today, and saw this old wagon that i thought should be moved. So I moved it, and my 1 yea old rouen hen dashed out from under neath, and she had a nest underneath. I stepped on 2 of the four eggs. So after I found out I stepped on the eggs, I dashed over to the...
I'm looking into getting some bantam cochins for broodies, and I'm seriously loking into ideal for my breeders. Has anyone ordered cochin bantams from them? Is there stock good enough to breed?
Thanks!
Ok, long story short, I bought my sisters male bob white quail today. She had a breeding trio, but she almost never fed them, so the 2 hens died. I wasn't gonna let her kill the male, so I said I would buy him from her, and she said "ok, $12" I couldn't let him sit there and died, so I bought...
When me, my mom, little brother, and older sister went to the local pond, I noticed that there was a Buff Orpington drake, with a dis-formed foot! His leg sticks straight out, and his foot is curled up. When he gets out of the pond, he struggles to even walk. So he just basically swims ALL...
Bad news first, will make better sense.
So, early last week my male pilgrim gosling died, his sister was so sad, she got weak, and barley ever moved for the first 2 days. Then she perked up, and it looked like she was doing great, but she wasn't I guess... She passed away Saturday evening...
Out of these 2 hens, I need to pick one as a breeder. Both look like nice quality, but I can only pick one.
Heres my drake, kinda ratty looking today, he had been in the water so long he waterlogged himself... silly boy!... His chest was a bit ruffled, he doesn't really have a bare spot...
