HELP!!! I BELIEVE I HAVE A SICK CHICKEN. UNKNOWN CAUSE. LOOKING FOR ADVICE.

Well a dose of the Amprol appears to be all that my lady needed. I am going to assume that it was Cocci and, thankfully, I caught it soon enough before it was too advanced. After mixing the dose and ensuring she drank my hen perked right up and after keeping her separated for the night I added...

HELP!!! I BELIEVE I HAVE A SICK CHICKEN. UNKNOWN CAUSE. LOOKING FOR ADVICE.

Thanks for your reply Snowflake. I picked up some Corid (Amprolium) from my local vet and will begin treatment of the entire flock. I have the one girl separated for now in her own pen. Should I keep her quarantined or add her back to the brooder with the rest of the girls ?

HELP!!! I BELIEVE I HAVE A SICK CHICKEN. UNKNOWN CAUSE. LOOKING FOR ADVICE.

Good morning all. I am a newbie and just acquired a small mixed flock of 8 chicks just over 4 weeks ago. I've noticed in the last 48hrs that one of my Buffs is lethargic. She doesn't appear interested in treats, however, she is drinking water and eating at times. Her poo is slightly running...

Post Some Pics Of Your Silver Laced Wyandotte Chicks!!!

Here's a picture of one of my two SLW's. Her name is Lacey and she is quite the character (a bit of a Diva, I think!). She, and the rest of my flock, are my first chickens.

    Coop in the making

Here's an update on the progress of the coop. Started adding pallet wood siding to the coop to give it a rustic look. It will also add some insulating value. Siding finished. I think it looks awesome. The wood will fade to a nice weathered grey in a few months. I also started and...

    Coop in the making

Somerset Girl - from what I can see you have done some very good work. Give yourself a pat on the back. I'm a newbie like you and learning as I go along. You should start your own thread and I love seeing pictures of other coops. In answer to your question it looks like there is a lot of natural...

    Coop in the making

Hello again everyone. I figured it was time for a quick post. I've been slowly ticking away at little projects on my coop so not much to say or pictures to share. However, my better half has a very creative side (must be the left-handedness in her) and when she saw the completed nesting box she...

NEWBIE IN NEED OF HELP CHOOSING A WATERER AND FEEDER

Thanks everyone for your advice and photo's. I believe I will go with a combo of the galvanized and rigid plastic feeders/waterer's. I found a used set of 4 on my local Kijiji site and will hopefully have them by next week. They are the size you recommended and were barely used. I will post some...

mrcman, thanks for your reply. I may go this route. I've got some lengths of pvc a friend gave me left over from his house construction. I'll post pic's if I decide to construct a couple. Thanks for the chicken well wishes. I should have my small flock in May and I'm looking forward to them...

NEWBIE IN NEED OF HELP CHOOSING A WATERER AND FEEDER

Hi realsis. thanks for your replies and photo's. I've looked at the galvanized feeder/waterer's, and I'm still not convinced that they are the best choice for me. I've read some reviews on the one's you posted. Do you have problems with the waterer leaking or not providing adequate water? How...

NEWBIE IN NEED OF HELP CHOOSING A WATERER AND FEEDER

Hello all. I am currently constructing my coop. I've been researching waterer's and feeder's. My coop is approx. 4 x 6. I have some space between the studs and I'm leaning towards wall-mounted units to conserve floor space. These units seem to fit the bill. I like that they would...

    Coop in the making

Well, winter has definitely landed on PEI. In between snow storms and shoveling marathons I have been working away at the coop. I also ordered my chicks (2 Silkies, 2 Barred Rocks, and 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes) and they should be arriving in May. Coop reno's to date: Cut out and installed...

    small WINDOWS for coops

JB - Kijiji, Craigslist and/or your used classifieds are great places to start. Also try visiting a local window manufacturer; they often have old windows that they have removed just sitting around. You shouldn't have a problem finding what you need and most people are often just glad to get rid...
