I found my first egg yesterday!
I am so proud. My hen: Jackie Kennedy Onassis was the proud lay-er. Having chickens is such a joy.
I have a chicken blog it anyone wants to check it out:
firstladyhens.blogspot.com.
I have a coop that came with the house that I live in.
I don't really have the resources to build a new one at this time.
Right now I have 4 six week old hens living in the coop. I also have four more 5 day old chicks in a brooder that will live in the coop eventually.
The problem is...
I named my new chickies after former first ladies:
eleanor
jackie
lady bird
mamie
dolly
nancy.
Here are more ideas I have for the next bunch:
country singers:
tammy
patty
reba
wynonna
etc
french chickies:
Madame Pompadour
Joan of Arc
Marie Antoinette
Brigitte Bardot
Those are Americana (spelling?) babies.
I also have Rhode Island Reds and Barred Plymouth Rocks.
I love them!
We are having the best azalea spring ever, they are just so lush and gorgeous.
don't be too jealous all of you folks up north who don't have green yet,,,,,we will be suffering in...
Pictures of my new babies!!!
I have two Amerucana (sp?)
two Rhode Island Reds
two Plymouth Rocks
I love them.
Can anyone tell how old they look? The feedstore couldn't tell me.

the dog is a little TOOO interested...
I'm going to the feedstore this afternoon to buy my chicks. They have some cute ones. Some and black and white and some are red. I don't know what breed they are but maybe after I post pics of them some chicken expert here can help me figure that out?
We already have a chicken coop and I...
