He's adorable!
Is he a loud/frequent crower? Just curious.:D
Also, I don't have any girls for him. I wonder if he'd be okay without them after being used to having a harem.
Hey Doll!
It's so weird to read this today when i just decided last night to look for a new roo.
I had a rescue roo just pass away a few months ago & we miss him dearly.
He was THE most friendly big guy that loved hugs & being picked up, car rides & playing with my dogs. Chanticleer just hung...
Oh, I think Daisy was just a one-in-a-million thing. I do have a spare silkie in the brood box...maaaaybe a silkie will be a snuzzle buddy close to how my girl was...:love
Oh! Plus the second egg hatched & he was just fine! All dry & very much what I had expected, I didn't even get to turn the heat down before he was zipping.
Are ducks pretty squishy & sloppy when they hatch compared to chookies?
(Keeping with the dux theme)
:D
So, I went home after reading that link Banty showed me. This little guy was still in the incubator & was standing & walking around trailing the rest of his innards behind him. I washed him in a bowl of warm clean water in the bathroom sink & with the mini heater running on the edge of the sink...
Yeah, about like that consistently but irregular shaped...maybe I need a brighter light & should post the eggs continuously until I can eyeball this better.
I am gonna have to take it apart when these are done, maybe I should get the solder gun out & play around with it a bit...hmmm...
My oops! I should have read that slower :hmm
The air cells seemed to be getting bigger like I remember last hatch. The last that I could make out just before lock down was around the top third of the eggs, but it was very difficult to see. I was tracing them but the shells were so thick I must...
It wasn't ACs last time, just some mutts. I was trying to keep it drier, but the machine beeps constantly if it's dry so I kept juuust enough water in it to not beep.
I should know better than to trust the machines....
Mutts are SO strong, at least that's how it works with dogs...maybe that's how the last three I incubated survived, they were some backyard mutts for my uncle... & here I was thinking I wasn't a n00b anymore:oops:
or, at least, not as much of one...
It's okay, I figured something was wrong when he opened up shop so early this morning. I started to become nervous when I saw so much juice after he zipped so quickly...humidity was around 50%, I barely raised it to 65%-70% at lockdown with a bit of wet sponge tossed in there. I did that for the...
