Color question..I'm not good with genetics so I'm wondering what will come of a Red bronze and Golde

I'm so impressed! I was googling to find an answer to my dilemma, if you can help, it would be so appreciated! I have a poult from a heritage bronze tom and a blue slate hen. It looks like a blue slate poult. Would it be more likely to be a male or female, or can that be determined this way? I...

Peafowl 101: Basic care, genetics, and answers.

I learned the hard way, that one problem with peacocks is that when they see another peacock in their territory, they want to fight it. Sometimes, like in the case of my shiny black jeep, it is the reflection of the peacock that he sees, and he will attack that too. I had my peacock attack both...

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

99.5, and at this late stage, I would not set the turner at all, just manually turn twice a day for a few days then put in lockdown, which is making sure both sides of the water reservoir are full, no more turning, and wait for the hatch. Good luck!!!

Anyone in San Diego Country Estates interested in trying to change the HOA rule against keeping chic

I think properties are slightly more reasonable because it is far out, harder to commute, not necessarily because of the chicken rules at all. But HOA communities in general keep many folks from moving into them.

Anyone in San Diego Country Estates interested in trying to change the HOA rule against keeping chic

Yeah, I stayed in estates for 3.5 yrs and sold it (I'm an agent) and moved to Lakeside, where I have chickens, peafowl, turkeys, guinea hen and beef cows. There is a LOT of support among homeowners in the estates to change the rules, and if you email me I'll hook you up to someone who lives...

could you incubate goose eggs in a brinsea mini?

Bumping this thread a bit- I may have lost my peahen last night to wanderlust- still have the peacock, thinking of going ahead and trying the eggs I have in the mini advance Brinsea and hand turning. I have another bator too- like a hova type. Was even thinking of putting two in each one just in...

    To get Guineas or not?

I'm not sure if this will post ok, but I took a video of my guinea hen (I just have one,no males) in my bird barn. She is getting along fine with the turkeys and peafowl, and isn't noisy like this all the time. When I talk to her she is noisy tho. Hopefully this will work:

Anyone in San Diego Country Estates interested in trying to change the HOA rule against keeping chic

There really wasn't a definitive outcome. The board motioned to not vote. There was a big crowd if chicken people and several spoke in favor of allowing up to 4 laying hens on the horse side of estates. This was due to having heard the BOD was against the idea of roosters, more than four, or any...

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

First, my Brinsea mini advance runs a little hotter than it says too. It hasn't affected my hatch yet. My last hatch in April was 5 turkey eggs, and it was set for 99.5 for 28 days, with turning stopped 2 days before hatch. When I laid a small thermometer on the eggs it was always one degree...

chick's are peeping how long till they hatch?

Dad is a Royal Palm and mom is bronze. Toms will look like bronzes and hens like Narragensett, according to another thread in this forum. I have quite a few eggs in nest with two hens sitting, some will be like these and some pure RPs. Really happy to have these all hatched.
