I just became the proud owner of a Jiffy III egg scale by Kuhn. It's the blue one shaped like a chicken. It came with a nifty 2 oz weight for balancing the scale so it weighs correctly. The directions that came with it for balancing are confusing to say the least. It talks about a 21 oz...

Are there any poultry processers in Northern Florida? My brother lives in the Gainesville area and was wishing to put on some meat birds..... he was hoping there was a processer near by to take the birds when it comes time for freezer camp...
There are numerous things to say here..... Um.... I don't think Selmut is going to treat what is going on with your bird. Other poultry health gurus need to chime in here, but I think Selmut is for cocci - an intestinal parasite. Your bird was most likely exposed to whatever is making it...

I'm not sure what you're asking.... do you want to break her broodiness? If so, good luck to to you. Pull her out of the nesting box as often as you can. The other way requires a rooster and confinement. The rooster technique breaks them within a few days. Pulling them out of the nesting box...
Cochins seem to be elegant, stately birds..... time will tell if your roo is rough with his girls. Every roo is different and some are quite gentle with their ladies... hen to rooster ratio will make a difference too.... 15 hens to 1 roo and 13 are bare back? That's one active roo...
