I found that colloidial silver worked better than ACV, but if you go that way you'll want to get equipment to make your own. Good for humans too! We got ours here: http://silverpuppy.com/
I'm also a fan of Lugol's iodine mentioned above but I haven't compared that for water maintenance -- I...
The chickens will learn to use the nipples quickly. Here's an earlier post I did:
I think the best bet is to take their water away when you put them to bed and then encourage them to explore the nipples with no other water available in the morning -- take away their normal water long enough for...
These are the ones I used and they have worked well.

There are cheaper ones but I've seen complaints about them -- not worth the small savings IMO

Nice design! If you 're going to start making them for other people you might like to incorporate some of the ideas from this system. If the chickens are out of the coop free ranging most of the time it saves having to take water to the coop...
Thanks! With the heat here we rolled up the tarps on the side and removed them to store in our shed. So the tarps will avoid the summer blast and the chickens get lots of air. ;-)
The waterer I made (see link above) is working great and it's nice to be able to refill from inside the house. As far as freezing if it was going below 32 we ran some hot water through the system at night before bed (maybe 90 degrees) and it would be about 40 by morning so no problem. If it was...
Do they really need water in the coop/run? IF they are free ranging your yard during the day and can get near the house maybe you can do the following to avoid hauling water. We don't put any water in the coop.

While I think there are currently some site problems creating an error I'm hoping that eventually this is the way to do it:
To create a page follow the instructions on the first post in this thread...
taking over the backyard
the gang
out for a drink
appearing in local media
patron saint on coop
For those that may wish to renew their acquaintance with the wonderful Foghorn (based in part I believe on a real politician) this takes on a new level of meaning after living with chickens
Birdhouse -- Love your coop! Great fun! Is that the finished state? What did you use on the OSB? Do you have to worry about that soaking up moisture over time outside?
I tried a couple times to add a new coop page for a waterer but got the following message:
There seems to be a problem!

How does one post pictures on this page --https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/homemade-chicken-feeder-waterer-designs-pictures ? If you look at the bottom you'll see a lot of folks would like to post there but don't know how. Maybe aside from here it would be good to have instuctions on that...
Here's another way to use the nipples and info re: pressure required, installation, temp control, algae control
