My broody bantum hen found a spot under a bush and has forsaken the coop to hatch a brood. I swapped out her stash for 8 fertile TJ's eggs today while she was off eating.
She hatched 6 for us 2yrs ago. Fingers crossed.
Anyone else doing TJ eggs?
one of my bantums was broody so i put 6 under her this summer
(didnt think her little bottom could keep 12 warm)
ALL 6 hatched. unbelievable and so much for for my little boy
as long as the run and coop are secure i think its okay to let them have access to the run and coop
we just put out a big bowl of food and top off their watering system if were leaving for a few days
they are farm animals after all - despite how we treat them
well 'henry' laid an egg last night so that seals the deal
but she still seems to be crowing in the morning
prolly cuz she's separated from the flock
anyways were working on re-integrating her now
fingers crossed
oh alex im so sorry
i dont know anything about bators
i was lucky to have a broody girl
keep trying!!
someone asked how they look now - here's mamma and the twins a few weeks ago
had to add
my last two girls (gave away the other 4) still sleep under "moms" wings despite being the same size as her
they are six weeks old and she is a bantum
also LOVED blowing the mind of a veterinarian friend
not sure if she believed me but I know the truth
ha yeah the half the price comment was facetious
its honesty not that nice a coop compared to the beauties i see here
its just a sign of the times - nm gifts for the financially insane goes home style
