Hello, from Indiana. I have 6 Bourbon Red turkeys that are 4 mo old, 2 boys, 4 girls. I can't answer all your questions but I can say we love all of them. Super sweet and extremely curious. From what I've heard they won't lay until the spring. They are seasonal layers, not like chickens...
Hi, all. I just want to say that I'm SICK of broody Orpingtons!!! I the past 2 months I've had about 6. So done! Not in the mood to try breaking the 3 that are broody now. Waiting it out. Except for one of my EEs, only the BOs have ever gone broody. I now have 3 Cochins that I got for...

Good morning all! Just wanted to post what works best for us with regard to 2015 Chicken Fest. Sept. or Oct. work best for us. We have 4 kids in band so June is busy with graduation, band camp and clinics. July is completely filled with band daily, 4-H fair, band competitions and State Fair...
X3. Have a great time together. Randolph Co. (Our county) starts today. Wish we could be @ the fest, too. Maybe next year the 2 won't happen @ the same time.

Hello. Are they under a bright, white light? Sometimes if it's too bright or their too hot they pick on each other. Also, if their space is too small it can make it worse. Even under "perfect" conditions, I think turkeys are more inquisitive and busy than chickens. Good luck to you!
It could have happened by one of the other birds. This happened to us a few weeks ago in a brooder box of chicks inside the house. It was a White Leghorn approx. 3-4wks old. Injury looked absolutely identical to yours. I removed it and took it to the sink and washed off all the blood. After...
Hello. Don't worry about those wings sticking out. All 6 of our BR poults had wings like that. In just 2-3wks. or so, as the rest of their wing feathers catch up, they come in close to the body like they should. Our poults are now 5wks. old and all of their wings look perfect.
