We check for an eggs first thing. We pulled poop out her after we checked for an egg. The only thing inside of her at this point is fluid. Problems at this moment are: she inhaled fluid, she can barely stand and is not eating or drinking. I am waiting for some else in the house to wake up so...

Very sad; should I put our hen out of misery---died, graphic photos

Her crop feels like baking soda. It no longer feels gassy. I do not know what you call what is coming out her mouth if hens do not throw up. We massaged hr crop last night to force the flushing out of her but now when her head drops fluid just comes out. It is sort of a dark greenish color...

    Caring for my broody

Every year our two White Cochine Frizzles go broody. And every year they lose weight and their feathers. On Sat. we put a couple of duck eggs our friends gave us under one of them. Today she is very pale and I am concerned about her. I am wondering if there is something I can do to better...

    Walking funny

She does not appear to be egg bound. She is now losing her feathers in a funny looking way, around her head and on one of her sides but it looks like they are coming back in so maybe it is a molt but it does not look like the molt she had last year. Not really sure how to explain it, I will...

    keeping ID on my cat

That website is very helpful, thank you goldensunriseranch. I think I should contact our vet to see if they do it. Seems like we should have both cats and our dog done. I will have to present some information at dinner for family discussion and decision making.... Thank you!

    keeping ID on my cat

We thought of a microchip but how does that help if the cat is down the street and someone picks it up, they will not be able to get the information, or if good forbid one of my cats got hurt; how would someone know to call us. Maybe at a vet or the pound they could check for a microchip but...

    Gender-Confused Rooster

Our rooster, Phyllis, we taught it was a hen and the name just stuck, sits on eggs. He also mates and attacks us. Maybe he does have some gender identity issues and I am sure we did not help with that name.

    keeping ID on my cat

Our newest cat can not seen to keep his collar on. I am guessing he loses them when he gets caught on something as it does not seem to bother him in the house and he can go weeks without lossing one. We really want to keep ID on him because we do not trust our new neighbors who we believe...

    ideas for economical coop...

I will try to put up some pictures next week to share with you what we are working on. Last year we built, with our landlords, a nice coop which they report spending over $1000 on. No way were we going down that road. We just bought our own house and actually would not spend that kind of...

    Foundation ?

We built our first coop up off the ground. So it is anywhere from 1-2 1/2' off the ground. The thing I really like about this is that the chickens go underneath it. They hide under there frequently when it rains and when the sun is too hot for them! We will be building another coop soon as...
