    Lethargic Duck not Eating

I really don't have the money for a vet. Havin a baby here in a few weeks. I took a sample into the vet today, so we should have some answers by Monday. Otherwise his energy is up, he's gained a little weight back, and he isn't sleeping as much. I think he's on the mend :)

Oh wow The vet who sees ducks wasn't in when I called. I'll call them again and see about getting antibiotics :(

    Lethargic Duck not Eating

He had a poop! I do have a vet here that I've taken them to before, but I don't really have the money for it. I will call tomorrow and see if they can run a fecal sample without an appointment, but I think otherwise they'd start with a blood draw. Two years ago I took him because he was acting...

    Lethargic Duck not Eating

Also I just put out some electrolytes for him and gave him meal worms. He ate the meal worms right up, which is a relief!

    Lethargic Duck not Eating

Ok! I will try to get a picture today. I brought him inside for a few hours earlier and put him in the bath. He seemed really happy and relaxed. He did poop while he was in the tub and I saw green, mucousy pieces floating in the water-not unlike his normal poop. Of course I couldn't see much...

    Lethargic Duck not Eating

I haven't wormed them in a few years. Last week his poop was nothing but water, and when he ate lettuce just dark green water. I haven't seen any of his poop since then :/ Does this sound like worms?

    Lethargic Duck not Eating

Hey everyone, I have a seven year old male Pekin who has not been acting normal for about three weeks. I noticed he was sleeping more and not being as active, but now he doesn't want to eat his normal food. I feed Mazuri waterfowl maintenance and they have never had a problem with it. He has...

Pekin Duck Laying Down a Lot, Doesn't Seem Sick

Hi all. My pekin duck Sammy has been laying down far more than usual lately. Sammy is 5 years old, I've had him all his life, and he is otherwise healthy. I noticed him laying down and straining a little to stand about a month ago. I responded by giving him warm baths for a few days and he did a...

Lethargic Duck Keeps Sleeping and is Unresponsive

Update! Sammy did wonderful at his appointment and the vet said he looks "perfect." Everything is fine. He drew blood just to be sure. He said the only possible disease he could have would be West Nile, but it's probably not that. I will feel good knowing that his blood work comes back normal...

Lethargic Duck Keeps Sleeping and is Unresponsive

Update! Sammy has a vet appointment on Thursday. I wish it could be earlier :/ He seems to be doing a lot better since he started getting ACV on Saturday. Still seems a little sleepy, so we'll see what the vet says. Thank you so much for the help! You guys are the best!

I will probably take him to the vet on Monday to get some antibiotics. We have a wonderful duck vet here, fortunately.

Lethargic Duck Keeps Sleeping and is Unresponsive

Thank you everyone! This morning I noticed his left eye is a little goopy. He seems to be closing his left eye and not his right eye. I think I will try putting some apple cider vinegar in their water, because that has worked before. Should I separate the two? And do I need to wash his eye...

Lethargic Duck Keeps Sleeping and is Unresponsive

Thank you for the replies! He is doing much better today. He slept in the bathroom last night and I checked on him twice over night, and he wasn't doing the falling alseep thing at all. This morning I put him back in the pen before work and he seemed pretty much back to normal, but was still...

Lethargic Duck Keeps Sleeping and is Unresponsive

I went out to feed my two male pekin ducks tonight and one was standing in the corner. Usually they both run to greet me and one did but they other, Sammy, stayed behind. He keeps shutting his eyes and being unresponsive. He will "go to sleep" for about a minute or two and then just wake up...

    Flaky Bill on Duck

So it's been a week of having Sammy on the vitamins and electrolytes and he's looking a ton better. His bill is still a bit dry where it meets his face but other than that is looking good. He's also had a lot of energy and a bit more sass (which is always a good sign). I plan to keep him on the...

    Flaky Bill on Duck

Thanks Amiga, I will try that. I had put a little petroleum jelly, small amounts, on his bill. He really hated that and I'm not sure if it helped.
