3 Khaki Campbell laying females for sale

Looking for a good home for my 3 khaki campbells. They currently free range my city backyard. I am moving to a new home that won't be a good yard for my girls. They are 2 years old and lay an egg a day, except for winter and when they molt. You can see more of them at www.whatupduck.com...

    Egg shell supplimenting???

I give my shells right back to the ducks after using. I just throw them out and they go CRAZY!! It is a fun show!

    My Drakes are nasty.

I couldn't deal with drakes and their nastiness, so I rehomed them and ended up with all females. The yard is at peace!!

    Do your ducks free range?

Seems no matter what we all do, there are predators out there! I live in the middle of town with virtually nothing but cats and dogs in neighboring yards. My ducks roam my fenced yard, but I have been outside when a hawk has swooped down after them. They are pretty smart and run like the...

Doesn't it just warm your heart?!?!

They will get used to the fact that you have the treats. Mine are 2 years old, still always skiddish, but run like the dickens when I call them. Good luck and repeat, repeat, repeat!

    This is an awesome forum

I agree. Have followed BYC since the day I started thinking about getting ducks. A year later, still going strong. Thanks to all!! I even started my website because of the silly ducks. That's addiction!!

    Loudest and quietest ducks

I agree with the friendlier they are the louder they get. I have female khakis and they are 2 years old. This year they have gotten noisier, but nothing like a pekin. OMG, I had to re-home my pekin cuz she was such a loud quacker, especially at 3 in the morning!

Where to keep the duck food??

I keep mine outside next to the duck house in a metal garbage can. This way nothing (like a squirrel!) can chew through and it tolerates snow and rain.

    khaki campbell ducks

My hens are 2 yrs. old and going strong as far as laying. Don't know much after that! I have a small pomeranian who doesn't really have much to do with the ducks. Maybe its because the ducks are bigger than she is. I have large dogs in neighboring yards and the ducks don't seem to be...

    ducklings having too much fun!

I love to watch my ducks in the pond (wading pool). I had a friend over at my house the other day and they walked out in the backyard and said "Where's your pond?" hahaha. I'm always talking about ducks in the pond, also known as a wading pool!

    khaki campbell ducks

I have had 3 girls around for a year now. I started out with a total of 6 khakis. Re-homed the drakes because I didn't like the mating rituals of the drakes. Seems they are on the females 24/7 and always chasing them. My girls lay daily and they don't need a male around to produce. I think...

Help me get these gals laying!

I would bet they are hiding from you, the eggs, that is! I was out of town for a week last year and my mom was looking all over the place and never found one. I came home, looked everywhere, couldn't find a thing! Then one day I went out to move one of my compost piles and wa-la. Here's...

Do ducks mate before they are old enough to lay eggs?

They mate all the time! Mating has really nothing to do with egg laying. Took my khaki campbells about 5 to 6 months to start laying.

ducks wont go into their house

I have also learned to accept that they don't seem to like the closed in space. I always find mine, smack dab in the middle of the yard each cold night. This last weekend they sat out there during a 10" snow (can be seen on my website!). Could hardly see them when it was all said and done. I...

Is a pond a must have?

Lots of good advice! As a side note, my hubby was NEVER excited about ducks, but he probably enjoys watching them more than he likes to admit. He's also the one most worried in the snowstorms, etc. Ducks are fun and lots of entertainment, especially for kids. I have a website about my ducks...

    ducks first winter

WOW, your ducks are spoiled. I was worrying about mine WAY too much, so now I keep a heat lamp on in their house (which they hardly use) and a heated water bucket in there with their grain. Seems they spend most of their time in snow drifts and don't care much about the luxuries. You are a...

what's the smallest duck pond I can get away with?

I'm a fan of the kiddie pool.....easy to dump and you can cheaply have as many as you want. I've had a small pond before and that is pretty messy to just trying to keep it clean.
