If that dark brown one is a marans egg, my two only ever lay one egg every other day. Usually, they take turns, so I get one marans egg every day. The other egg looks like it may have gotten dropped on one end. Could it have fallen out of the nest box or something? Also, a lot of...

Yes, general the first eggs are VERY expensive! It take a while for them to pay off their debt! LOL! It's worth it, though.

Our girls are NOT laying right now, and they refuse to come out of their coop! I think they're blaming the snow and freezing temperatures on us! LOL!!!

I was in angst here for more than a week because I couldn't see my girls in the coop via my camera!!! When I pulled up the program on my laptop, it said I had to download a Java update, so I did. Then it said my camera program was incompatible with my browser, but they were working on it...

It's my understanding that they can lay either blue or green. In which case, you got the right ones. There's no way to tell in advance whether they'll lay blue or green eggs. They may not even bee the same shade all the time as they are now. Sorry you were hoping for blue eggs.

Another question about chicken stopped laying

Another question about chicken stopped laying

I have two cuckoo marans, a barred rock, and a buff orpington. Usually the marans lay an egg every other day, so they take turns! It's snowed here, and the girls tentatively stepped out of their coop onto the chicken ladder, then flew down and quickly got under the coop where there was no...

Maybe they just less uncomfortable laying eggs now and it's become a less spectacular thing to them? I like the egg song. It tickles me to hear it!

Congrats on the first egg! I often wonder what my four are thinking. The funniest thing is that they sometimes seem to be reading MY mind! I'll be watching them via the camera in their coop. I can hear them, but they can't hear me...........or can they? I'll talk to them as if they can hear...

No, it's not stupid! We have a camera in our coop so I can watch them from my laptop without going outside! I'm handicapped, so that helps a lot. We can see when they're all inside so they never get locked out of the coop in the evening when the door closes. None of our four will ever see a...

We can identify who laid which eggs too, but we only have 4. Our granddaughter can identify them, though, too and she doesn't even live here!

It looks like you have the crate where she has to get in from the top, and since you said she may think it's a well, I may have a solution. Put the crate in so that the opening is toward the open coop. They like to walk in, turn around, and look around. So try putting it into the coop...
