Sick chicken with dislodged tongue and obstruction

This is EXACTLY what it looks like. Thank you so much! I'll hopefully commence the metronidazole tomorrow morning (if I can buy some) and also put garlic in the flock's waterers ... is there any point in trying to remove the growths from her mouth?

Please help! I have a bantam Leghorn hen that seems to have some sort of obstruction in her mouth/throat. Consequently, her tongue has been dislodged from it's normal place and is now more to one side. I only just noticed this all today but she's been unwell for a couple of days now and she's...

I've been looking into getting homing pigeons and I really need to know the basics of caring for them. I'm not unfamiliar with keeping birds because I've kept chickens for the past 6 years but what do pigeons need in terms of food, water, loft/aviary, medicine, etc.? Any other general...

    Sick pullets

I don't know for sure but maybe research sour crop (blockage in the crop causing bulge in the chest) or respiratory diseases in chickens. Maybe even worms although that would usually cause abnormal faeces. See if you can find worms in their poo.

Please help me! I have a bantam Langshan hen with a closed eye (won't open at all), what appears to be red welts on her face and within the last hour she's started twisting and jerking her neck in a very extreme/uncomfortable way. She's had the closed eye for about a month now - its been...

Need guidance on adding to my flock

If you buy chicks, the best idea would be to try and buy sexed chicks and maybe buy 3 or 4 because during the early stages of their life they can be very prone to sudden death and sickness so you might have to factor in one or two deaths. However, when I bought my first 6 chicks I had no...

What's Your Chickens names and Why are they named that?

Chickadee - this little Leghorn was just such a character that she needed a name like this. Nigella - she's a black Ancona so the same colour as nigella seeds (you know, the ones which go on Turkish bread). Freida - no reason. Goldie - she's a beautiful buff Pekin so she was obviously named...
