No worries, and I never take it personally. If I have a question (which I've had a few) I do throw it on the thread that it applies to and this site has helped a lot (I'm a very new, very small flock (4) chicken person). It would make me so nervous to have birds that are prized as perfect, I'm...
Totally understand and have been watching the conversation. Sort of makes you not want to participate or fear participation in case you spell something wrong or say something wrong. Used to really like this thread, but there are only about 7 people who regularly reply and it's not always about...
Feel free to look at my two designs, use ideas from them or find better ones. I am fine with questions from members, via site or even personal calls. I am old school. I like talking to people . South Louisiana Fireman still on job and have no problem with calls as long as relevant to topic at...
LOL, that made me laugh. We've had loose bees in the car too... had to drive with the gear on! We just did a hive check and the swarm we caught last year - which we did not support with sugar water all winter - has a weak queen - lots of stores, a little bit of brood, lots of pollen, but she's...
Strange. The package that you put into a hive for yourself was still there and intact? Had you removed the package that was your friends at all and put into a hive? Strange they would be left if the package was never opened... wondering if your package was able to get to your friends package and...
My girls probably get one of those tiny watermelons per week - they just love them, and I just cut it in half, they are finished with it - I mean the bowl it makes is paper thin when they're done. Great for hot days.

Thanksk for the fight, Duck Dover, as a Covington/Maple Valley resident (who has four chickens and three labradors) your fight was very much appreciated and if I knew you, I'd buy you a bottle of wine!
Hi RainMom, I live in Maple Valley as well (been here about 3 years now) and have 4 hens (2 buff oops, one sliver laced wyandotte and one EE who has not give me a blue egg in over a year). I heard on the WA blog that you may be selling chicks (think Chickielady gave your name to another person...
I have a friend in Parkland who needs to give away her two Peking female ducks. They were born last Spring (so a little over a year and a half) and they lay regularly. Free to a good home. Parkland is close to Spanaway.
Honestly you take the most beautiful pictures of your chick/duck subjects. I always enjoy them and aspire to do the same (although I only have four adult hens). Thank you for these.
Long, solid chicken poop - what causes it?
One of my chickens (I only have four) created a poo that was about 6-8 inches long, was coated by the normal green/white slimy poo, but inside of this "rope-like" string was obvious grass and food all braided together. It was VERY tough when I tried...
Yep, it overlooks our 2nd floor balcony and the little boogers were dropping onto our balcony which is what made me look up and discover the yucky web packets in two locations.
We have a few as well. Last year, in our cedar tree, too high up to reach them, but I don't see them up there this year. This year, they're reachable at the shoulder level, and like you, thought the chickens would just LOVE them! They turned their nose up at them and looked at like we were...
