Ditto! I've been unable to log in too & only got it resolved today. So, welcome back Rhonda, helllllloooooo to the rest of you!
I agree that I'm not going to try and catch up with old posts either.
That's two months worth YIKES! :)
That sounds delicious!! I have two Turkey's in the freezer...
This response actually belongs to the bottom quote, but I can't get my phone to consistently add pics & since you did I'm using yours. This ^^^^ IS the powder I used. It doesn't say who makes it, only that it's distributed by "Peak Marketing" out of Blue Springs, Mo., so no "brand name" to...
Welcome to the BYC! I live in the Tryon, Agra, Perkins, Cushing area and have had chickens since last spring. I'm already addicted and performed my first ever "chicken math", which is the ONLY math I've ever liked :D
@NanaKat I am so glad you didn't get hurt during your muddy pen ordeal, but...
I've resorted to using pine shavings wherever I needed moisture "whicked" away, plus it smells great, will compost over time, and isn't that expensive. I had two deep holes in my run that were holding water & smelled "Lord have MERCY" awful! I put two full bags down & it worked like a charm...
This rain has made life harder on man & beast! Chin up though, we have a few days to dry out it appears :) I hope your chickens don't get sick
I'm sorry for your losses and glad it wasn't as many as you feared.
I can do that this evening. I know how many tbs I've used & will measure...
Here is a thread I started last year as we were building our coop/run.

Things I'd change: I would do without the "sand board" & have 2x3 boards as roosts & let the poop fall to the...
I had a mint plant in a potter last year. I was gone for treatment for several months & hubby didn't have time to tend it. When I returned home it was getting cold & the plant was dead. Imagine my surprise this spring when I noticed new growth in that potter :) Never knew mint would come back...
Ooooh, thank you! ! *muah muah, hugs, hugs* That helps tremendously & I'm not going to start it til tonight or tomorrow, so there's time to verify.
I have been battling sneezy chickens for about 6wks, thought it was a virus due to wild fowl. They cleared up on their own with me monitoring them...
Antibiotic question:
I have a package that is 181.5g or 6.4oz, says the package contains 10 grams of oxytetracycline HCI. ON the back the dosage is as follows:
Infectious Synovitis: 200-400mg/gal
Chronic Respiratory Disease: 400-800mg/gal
Fowl cholera: 400-800mg/gal
Beside the "Dosage" info...
I'm glad you're on the mend! Do you have a relative who can help with the little ones? It's hard enough being injured, but tending to wee ones makes it extra tough *hugs*
I've never used a bator so have no clue how I would do and my first (only) broody attempt yielded one baby out of 10...
Holy smoke! I'll say a prayer for a quick recovery. You've got your hands full with such tiny tots!
@ChickenChump .... I think they're salvageable, but as suggested, leaks are an issue. I wonder if building a floor elsewhere and using parts from the existing buildings to form a new coop...
I'm so sorry for your loss. Until I owned chickens I never knew how attached I'd become. You gave her a great home. She was a very lucky girl *hugs*
@ChickenChump
Would you be able to provide photo's of your potential coops? I think you'll get better advice that way :)
Welcome to the BYC...
That is a crying shame! Poor baby :(
I'm in agreement & have had enough rain for a while. We need a chance to dry out a bit.
On that note, I hope all of the Okies down south are going to be okay. Looks dire that way.
Can someone identify what type of Bantams these two are? They were part...
I use Diatomaceous Earth. I bought it at a local feed mill & it's the kind considered safe for people & livestock.
I put it where they dust themselves, on the nest boxes with my pine shavings, and around the floor of the coop mixed with the pine shavings.
*knock on wood* I've had NO problems...
So sorry! You remember the Brahma roo I bought last year from you? Hubby shut the chickens up about a month or so ago and somehow "Bill" & 2 hens didn't make it in. Found him & a hen in our water trough. We were devastated, honestly, I was furious with myself for not closing them up...
That's a great idea, thank you!
I hope you get your dry spell for your pens & the "manure tea" situation fixed. That term made me giggle :)
I bought some "pea pebbles" for my tiny coops run, but it's $3.98 for a 40# bag and took six of them. Great for a small space, not a large one.
I...
I think we're all going to battle them this year, but nanakat has good advice too!
I need to buy the dunks for my creek areas because they are full this year.
