I live in Sweden and I've never heard of such an agreement. However, the genebank doesn't exactly encourage the export of birds or eggs. If a genebank breeder sells eggs, the birds that hatch won't be genebank birds. Only chicks that are at least 8 weeks can be sold as genebank birds. I do think...
Thank you all! I appreciate your concern about predators and you're right - the run is not predator proof. Fortunately, this is not a very big problem where I live. And at least I don't think any predators would be able to get into the coop.
TeaChick, I'd love to see your coop when it's finished :)
Thaks Diana! It's a bit less clean now... Yes, I made quite a few mistakes and there are some things I'm going to change when spring comes. Bigger roosts, maybe put them both on the same level, add some kind of ventilation. Right now my flock lives in a bigger coop and this one is hard to open...
This was a really nice sursprise! Thank you, BYC admin and all you other chicken enthusiasts! Glad you liked it and I hope it can inspire many others to build their own coop.
Thanks Bulldogma! I love your Pepparkakor Hönshus! I actually make a ginger bread house every Christmas. I guess this year it will have to be a ginger bread chicken coop
I'm afraid I can't help you there. I have no idea what they are and neither does their owner. They're sort of medium sized but lay small eggs like I imagine that bantams would.
They are my summer chickens - three hens that I've borrowed for the summer from a colleague of mine. Feel a bit sad to have to return them soon though - especially after learning about their special skills
Thanks for your kind words, Crazyfeathers and EastTXChickens! Tack, Vehve! This is in the very south of Sweden (Skåne) and it sure is spring here now. I've seen your coop - truly impressive!
