He wouldn't stand still for the picture acted like I was going to kill him, sorry they are a bit blurry but you can see the coloring anyway.
Thanks Sonora
Ok Sonora he doesn't have khaki spots it's more like a male pattern collar and on his back. There are two roosters in the pen a black and the blue. The blue is the dominant rooster. So this is an off color his base color is white with the frosting of taupe coloring and I do see a dark not sure...
I have a khaki bird from a paint pullet and a blue roo the chick hatched white and there seems to be a faint spot on the shoulder. What is causing the khaki coloring and should the khaki birds be removed from the breeding stock. The chick i'm positive is a rooster it's 4 1/2 months old now.
Thanks for your suggestions that makes sense I hadn't thought of the black to black mixed in with the splits, I wouldn't know what combo they were carrying.
I hope to set up a paint pen in the spring I have one paint pullet and just hatched a paint chick sex unknown at this point. I was thinking of including my black roo a black hen the paint pullet the chick I also have a white hen and cockerel not sure if I should include the white birds or not.
I live in Connecticut and I have hatched her eggs, she packages them very well you have to let them rest a day before setting in the incubator then I didn't start the turner for the first two days. It isn't the distance so much as the postal handling rough or not that I think is the most...
Don't be to disappointed if the eggs from the show cages don't hatch many will keep their show birds separate to keep the feathers in show condition so they may very well be infertile.
I have four 6 month old Buff Silkie roosters free to a good home they were hatched and raised together and get along with each other. PM me if you are interested thanks
Well my boys that are just 5 months are mature enough to fertilize the eggs I baked some zucchini bread yesterday and the eggs had the little white circle on the yolk. Shoot wish I had known before placing them in the fridge because now my girls are starting to molt and have stopped laying, now...
Glad to see that they hatched so cute looks like they are splash. You guys are killing me with these adorable chick pictures. I gave in and let my broody have 8 eggs this morning she has been hatching straw for the last week, when this girl goes broody she sits. She is my avatar and hatched 5...
Oh my how horrible I never thought of ants and the hatching eggs poor baby hopefully they didn't hurt it. I think there are a lot of ant issues this year because of it being so dry. I wonder what can be used around the chickens to repel the ants and not harm the chickens. I don't believe that DE...
I'm so sorry your little one passed sometimes it is for the best if quality of life isn't there. I do hope your other tiny chick gets stronger.
I have lost a few Silkies with vaulted skulls and I have a couple that have survived to adulthood with a whole lot of TLC they have their own pen away...
I think you would gain some insight into the vaulted head brain injury issues if you take a look over at the Silkie group it sounds like you are having similar issues that have arisen with the Silkies and their vaulted skulls though not as severe. Good luck with your little ones it is...
