Cream Legbar cross genetics and (auto)sexing

So for fun I put eggs in the incubator, from on the counter (not moved for days) from the fridge, washed, old, etc. Anyways I ended up with 21 chicks. Here is my question, since they were not seperated into breeding pens, I know 99.5 percent sure most are mixed. In one pen I had legbars and...

Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

The coloring is way off on that boy as far a shades of color he should be as far as I am concerned, but I am not an expert. That also would be why they didnt autosex correctly. But he does look to have a crest.... any pics of your girls?

Tatanka Breeders Club: Meat Quail project with history, discussion, pictures and videos

Has anyone that has bred for size had the feeling that they just want to work on the project and not really sell any? I quick butcher the excess birds to feed to my dogs. Fast them the night before (if I remember) and dispatch, take a big strainer, swish them around in how water, throw them in...

    Cream Legbars

Chicken Pickin, no I meant that the body (other than the breast) is that darker slate grey color I have seen some that are lighter and some that are darker. The whole body, wings etc, is it supposed to be a darker slate grey or lighter?

    Cream Legbars

I have a question, I am pretty new, I have Crested Cream Legbars and mine the pullets are quite dark. IS darker better, or a fault? Their bodies are the same color as the crest on this one.

I agree it has to be a video, not just a photo, cause a photo, you can add weight to the scale!

Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

Hi, I hatched out some eggs, that I got from, of all places Ebay.... oh well probably not good quality. I love crested Cream Legbars, so was wondering is there a point where the crest can be too excessive? I have one of my bunch (and her crest may stand up more as she reaches out through the...

To all the experience quail breeder!

Not in the hundreds I have checked, not sure its called the pelvic bones but the bones are much more seperated on a quail that is laying than a rooster. For a mature male, you can barely fit one finger between it and many of my hens you could almost fit 2 between it.

    Show me your quails!

The white is a Texas A & M from my breeding and on the right is a hatchling 2 days older (they are both at 7 weeks) hatched from shipped eggs that are supposed to be direct line from James Marie Farm. 100+ grams difference.

To all the experience quail breeder!

Just check how wide apart the pelvic bones are, just hold against your tummy, reach under and gently place feel for the 2 bones that come down towards the vent and apply slight pressure to see where they are. Close together, male or female not laying, spread apart, then have recently, or will...
