    The fishing lines are spanning 20 feet, so there was give. I have since put up bird netting and haven't lost a chicken yet.

    Picture of the hawk that has been flying in and out of our fishing line webbing (every 6 inches back and forth). It doesn't work one bit!!! I just installed bird netting this morning. Hopefully the massacre stops now.

    Thanks for all the good advice. I did try using fishing line across the top of the 6' chain link fence that is my run. (2500' of line at 6" intervals back and forth over 40'x15' run) The next day there were loose strains of line and a dead, picked over chicken outside the fence. So much for...

    I have chickens for about 3 years now (15 chickens and dwindling). They are in a fenced in run. They get eaten by hawks. (1 a week now) I will be building a covered run this summer. Thinking about getting a goose as guard. I built my own coop. Will post pictures later. I need hatching eggs...
