That's great - thanks! We have a couple weeks. So that could work. :) I'll message you my email. Just let me know when you'd be ready to take them. If we still have them (or some of them), then we'll send them your way.

8-week old pullets - Austin, TX

Hi BYC, I'm in Austin, TX. We're moving unexpectedly, and I am so very sad to say that I have to re-home my mixed flock. The flock has seven 8-week-old pullets, one suspected 8-week-old roo (not sure of breed), and two older birds that are still laying, but coming to an end. I hand-raised all...

First egg still attached -- should I be concerned?

So I was able to get the swelling down -- but there was weird white and black scabbiness still that seemed to prevent her from healing. We took her to the vet, and they cut that off and then put in a couple sutures. She's doing great so far! Vet thinks everything looks really good. Thanks for...

First egg still attached -- should I be concerned?

Thanks! She's also a first time layer. And the egg that was attached that I had to get out in the bath was sideways :( Poor girl. She's still separated from the flock. For the past two days we've soaked her in epsom salt (for about 20 min.) and applied Prep H/ Neosporin 2X day. I've...

First egg still attached -- should I be concerned?

THANKS!! This is great! We soaked her in a warm Epson salt bath for 20 min., which she was very calm for. (I wonder if it actually felt better. Maybe she liked it.) Then we applied some (pain-reliever free/no aspirin) Prep H and Neosporin. With that and a little water-based lubricant, I was able...

First egg still attached -- should I be concerned?

I am concerned that she might also have that. There is still tissue protruding. Hrm. Is this something I could tend to, or does she need to go to a vet?

First egg still attached -- should I be concerned?

The warm bath worked!! I placed her in the water and really washed the area and very slowly it started to come free. Thanks so much for the help guys! She seemed really confused, and she has a wet bottom, but she seems great. :D THANKS!!

Oh noes! I hope she's all right. Looks like they suggest warm water. I could run her bath?
