Egg Bound - Need Advice Please

I actually gave her dose 1 of the fish mox a few hours ago, so I will continue that for 7-10 days along with giving her some extra calcium for a few days. I will also be sure to check her crop first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will be back to normal after laying that soft egg. She...

Egg Bound - Need Advice Please

Thank you! I have the 250mg Fish Mox...so twice a day? I'll get her started on that right away. After about an 1 1/2 nap, she started making little noises at me and perking up. I gave her a little wet feed and she ate that and got up to wipe her beak clean on the rug. lol She's strutting...

Egg Bound - Need Advice Please

I have a 6 year old Speckled Sussex hen who yesterday after I was finished with work, I had noticed something was clearly wrong. She had been totally fine and her normal spunky self that morning with a clear crop as well. Looking at her poops and body language, I made the guess that she was...

    Advice Needed - Intestinal shedding/Worms/Cocci?

Thanks for your reply! I do have Corid on hand, so I'll get them all started on that today and I'll also try and get a sample in today/tomorrow. Their coop bedding is totally dry and I do clean up daily in there, so it is pretty clean. Their run is also covered and dry. However, there are other...

    Advice Needed - Intestinal shedding/Worms/Cocci?

I have a Jersey Giant hen that will be 3 years old this May. She had started laying again at the end of January after her molt/winter break, laid for a few weeks and then has stopped now for a few weeks. This past weekend, I started to notice what appeared to look like intestinal shedding in her...

Depluming Mites And How To Treat Hens???

It did! I followed the exact treatment method from @TwoCrows at the beginning of this thread and that was the end of it. My hen eventually molted and grew in pretty feathers in all of her bare spots and her red, irritated skin eventually cleared as well. Best of luck to you!

    Chicken keeps falling over! Help!

I was following your thread hoping your girl was going to recover. I'm sorry you lost her.💔 It's never easy and I know how much it hurts. Gertie was lucky to have you.❤️

Hen with recurring squishy crop - Advice Needed

This is super helpful...thank you! I just checked the website and this is one I looked at originally. Now I wish I would've bought from them in the first place. I don't see the bumble bee one available, so I think I'll just have to guess and hope for the best. Either way, I would think it's got...

Hen with recurring squishy crop - Advice Needed

Also, here's a poop picture. I scooped it up out of the run to get a better pic, so there is some straw stuck to it.

Hen with recurring squishy crop - Advice Needed

Here's Sweet Pea. I just checked her crop and let them out of the coop. You can definitely see her crop here. It was less than what it was when she went to bed, but still full. Do you think it could be pendulous, since this has happened multiple times now?

Hen with recurring squishy crop - Advice Needed

I'll pick some up and give that a try. I've been wanting to add Safeguard to their chicken med cabinet anyway. Do you think I should still continue the Monistat with her along with trying a crop bra? She just laid an egg yesterday and seems to be acting normal. I also forgot to mention that her...

Hen with recurring squishy crop - Advice Needed

That's really interesting and good to know. Pendulous crop had crossed my mind, but I guess I was hoping that we weren't already at that point. I did buy a crop bra last fall and had her wear it for a bit....wow, that was quite the ordeal at first. lol I feel like the one I got doesn't fit the...

Hen with recurring squishy crop - Advice Needed

Hi, I have a Blue Splash Marans hen that will be 2 years old this Spring. Over this past year, she's had a squishy crop that seems to come and go. The first was last Jan.2020, which I actually posted about. However, we now have dealt with this in Oct/Nov and I just finished treating her with...

    Too many chickens?

Congrats on the new job. Salt Lake City itself had relaxed its restrictions years ago and will allow up to 15 chickens. Of course they say you're supposed to get a permit, but most don't. I live in SLC and have 8. I'd have to look around as far as some of the nearby cities restrictions. I know...
