Has anyone raised call ducks and silkies together?

We are getting some call ducks (a pair) and a friend of mine said that they would happily live with our silkie chicken flock. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this and could fill us in on some pros and cons!

so #3, #6 and #9 are the ones who have smooth feathers (#6 and #9 are clearly mixed - shows in their toes and #9 is obviously just not a silkie lol. #3 is the one I was curious about, if she had come from my satin or not. since the pictures were taken they've grown more and 6 more hatched all...

thank you so much! that is very helpful. I'm wondering now if my satin girl produces silkie feathered chicks, since I only have her and 2 laying pure bred silkies (my other silkies are all too young to lay yet) and the chicks, besides the obvious mixes with the barred rock break in, lol, seem to...

    Silkie Breeding

    1. thank you. i'm trying to figure out which of the babies i can classify as pure silkies and I've gathered that if they show true silkie feathering then that seems like a safe bet. only 3/15 are showing satin feathers and/or were fathered by the barred rock roo. 2. thanks for the correction...

Titan Brooder/brooder plates experience high heat- ?

I have heard such conflicting experiences! the instructions say they are supposed to be able to touch it, and in the photos they are touching it. is yours so hot that you cannot put your hand on it? (just want to add that I am not sensitive to heat, I worked in a kitchen for many years and can...
