    Puss Coming From Vent

She has been inside overnight. She is quite old probably around 7. It does seem like an infection or cyst. Would oral antibiotics help or should she be culled?

    Puss Coming From Vent

Thanks. I tried cleaning it all off but it's really hard and painful for her. The poop isn't blocking her vent and it's mostly puss/blood/poop combination. She is still pooping and drinking/eating.

    Puss Coming From Vent

So it's a bit of a story... The flock of 17 decided to attack one of my older Mistral Gree/barred rock hens along with her matching sister Beth. They pecked the older hen (Chanty)'s eye out. They gave Beth a few cuts but nothing like poor Chanty. Anyways I took care of Chanty and she recovered...

    Silkie thread!

Don't give her oatmeal as they can easily gum up inside the chicken's digestive system or even around their beak and seal it shut.

    Horse Talk

That's awesome. Having horses is the best. I use pea gravel which won't bruise their feet or cause sand colic. 1 horse (13-16hh) usually eats about 1 bale a day or more, minis eat wayyy less and drafts eat wayyy more. I don't recomend buying hay every week as the loading/unloading can sometimes...

    EXTREMELY INJURED HEN: Please Help!!!

She is doing better. I cleaned her wounds with a weak Betadine solution, then put polysporin on them. Then I've been cleaning her eye with warm compresses and I will try to clean it with saline. She was on electrolyte water for a while and that helped. She is eating again, and getting to be more...

    EXTREMELY INJURED HEN: Please Help!!!

Ok thank you. I cleaned her wounds with a weak Betadine solution, then put some polysporin on it. While I was cleaning her wounds, she opened her injured eye. It looks like they might have actually bite off half of or all of her eye. The eye socket seems to just be filled with yellow goo. She...
