Hello all on this thread....I was here way back in 2016...long time ago. Thought I'd rekindle my love of seeing all the UK posts on here. 👋 again to everyone
Hiyah all...not been on here for a while, just been mad busy with all the dog walking/bird duties/child duties and general housework. When i get a spare hour, I'll spin through all the (152) "replies" that I haven't yet read on the thread.
Well, I'm glad the lockdown is over, my flock are...
Oh Goodness Paula. So sorry...after she was back out with the flock too. I've lost far too many for a variety of reasons and it doesn't get any easier. Sending much love and hugs to you. RIP Jackie xx
Aaahh. They look super happpy. They'll be just fine with the heat lamp and plenty of chick crumb. Without being able to see the picture as I'm replying, its a good idea to put clean stones in their water providers so they can't drown if they fall in (you may have already done this, I just cant...
Hiyah!! Fellow Silkie fan here...bred a few of my own last year under broodies. I have a super Splash Silkie cockerel from last season whom I'm hoping will prove fertile enough to father some chicks later this year. Welcome to the thread, I look forward to the piccies of the fluffballs! Sasha xx
Really not sure...? In the muddy conditions we've got currently, my ducks have been shoving their bills under the fences to snuffle about in the puddles, that causes them to get a touch sore at the top of their bills. Not sure about the black spots though.
Just spent a fortune on Flubenvet in...
Yay. Glad Jackie is back to full strength. I have a total menagerie....wouldn't have it any other way! I should have some broodies soon so I'll have more!!
I haven't seen it...loved the first one! I can recommend Hacksaw Ridge though, great film. My daughter went to see Hidden Figures yesterday. She said it was great.
Hiyah @RascalAndJemima Mine haven't tended to lose much weight seasonally but they may be eating less as they are less active due to the current lockdown situation. As long as they're on good quality layers pellets they'll be fine. A handful of corn and some brown bread as a treat may help too...
Not my department either I'm afraid! My o/h deals with all he DIY jobs. Here's a close up of one of my bolts, they're all the same around my coop and pen:
Good luck xx
It's great in the Spring and Summer but from about November through till February, it's testing! I've been doing it since I had my daughter 12 years ago...it was meant to be a way to earn some pocket money short term with a baby in tow but I'm still at it!
Yay! Me too....my daughter has an inset day tomorrow so I'm off from today...whoop, whoop. I've still got work but I'm only a dog walker so it's all good!
Not sure of your set up but I would get a lock on your pop hole. I'm lucky (as you've seen with the pics I've sent you previously), my coop is within a pen and behind 2 doors...all locked. We just use bog standard bolts/keeps, nothing too convoluted ...I take no chances as the foxes are rife...
I've got the same problem here...I'll try get a piccie tomorrow. I have to blame my ducks though...before I owned them, my garden was never as churned up. Maybe I should cut down on the ponds for them (I spoil them by having far too many)...might mean a bit less water everywhere! Thank God I've...
@Yorkshirecoop Thanks for the video and for asking the expert. Yes, there was a similar noise but something was sqwaking away too..lots of chickens round here so I do hope no one is minus some this morning. I'd better keep a look out, there's acres of quiet fields behind my garden..perfect for...
Yeah. They kinda "scream"...you'd think a murder was taking place. I heard them but then there was a different noise right after, an awful noise like something being....well...nothing nice without being too blunt. I had a big run round the place and turned all the outside security lights on but...
